Tutorial Thursday: Celebrate Sunflowers

TUTORIAL THURSDAY: Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set

Happy Thursday! On Thursdays, I’m starting to share a tutorial featuring 1 stamp set with 2-3 different samples! You can choose to see them on this post and/or print out the tutorials to keep for reference! 🙂

Hope you enjoy it!

Idea #1

Measurements: 

  • Whisper White: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Whisper White: 3-1/4” x 5-1/2” (embossed background), and 2-3/4” x 5-1/2” (stamped flowers)
  • Cinnamon Cider: scraps for die cut sprigs
  • In Good Taste Designer Paper: 1-1/2” x 5-1/2”

  • Cardstock: Whisper White (100730), Cinnamon Cider (153078)
  • Ink: Soft Suede (147115), Stampin’ Blends Combos – Cinnamon Cider (153105), Daffodil Delight (154883), Mango Melody (154888), Granny Apple Green (154885)
  • Tools & Accessories: Metallic Pearls (146282), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Stampin’ Seal (152813), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder (152718), Die-cutting machine
  • Designer Paper: In Good Taste (152494)

Instructions:

  1. Emboss Whisper White background with Tasteful Textile 3D folder and adhere to card base 1/8” from top fold.
  2. Die-cut sprigs from Cinnamon Cider cardstock and adhere to the embossed background with glue. Note: you may need to trim the ends, depending on placement.)
  3. Adhere designer paper 1/8” from the bottom of the embossed piece over ends of sprigs.
  4. Stamp three flowers with Soft Suede ink on remaining white cardstock and colour with Stampin’ Blends. Die-cut and adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  5. Stamp greeting with Soft Suede ink.
  6. Add gold Metallic Pearls.

Idea #2

Measurements: 

  • Misty Moonlight: 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”
  • Basic Black: 4 ¼” x 1 ½”
  • Whisper White: 4” x 5 ¼” (2), scraps

  • Cardstock: Misty Moonlight (153081), Basic Black (121045), Whisper White (100730)
  • Ink: Memento Black (132708), Versamark (102283)
  • Stampin Blends: Old Olive Combo (154892), Daffodil Delight Combo (154883), So Saffron Combo (154905), Mango Melody Dark (154888), Soft Suede Combo (154906)
  • Tool & Accessories: Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder (152718), White Embossing Powder (109132), Heat Tool (129053), Paper snips (103579), Snail Adhesive (104332), Sunflowers Dies (152704), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Stitched Rectangles Dies (151820)

Instructions:

  1. Cut out the center window front the front of the card using the rectangle die.
  2. Using the larger rectangle die, cut the center window from one of the 4” x 5 ¼” pieces of Whisper White, run through Tasteful Textiles embossing folder, then using Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere over the window on Misty Moonlight base.
  3. Stamp three small sunflowers on Whisper White scrap using Memento Black ink.
  4. Colour sunflowers using Stampin’ Blends, then cut out with the die.
  5. Stamp ‘Let’s Celebrate You’ verse with Versamark onto Black cardstock, sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat with the heat tool. Cut using snips.
  6. Adhere one sunflower to the top right corner of the rectangle window using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  7. Place two sunflowers to the bottom left and only adhere bottom sunflower.
  8. Adhere verse across sunflower, and then adhere the last sunflower above verse with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  9. One second piece of Whisper White, stamp sunflower to the bottom right corner so it peeks out of the window when the card is closed. Colour with Stampin’ Blends then adhere the piece to the inside of the card.
  10. With card closed, stamp ‘Birthdays are the best days’ onto inside Whisper White using Memento Black ink.

Walk in the Woods – Watercolored Hedgehog

Don’t you just love this little hedgehog from the Walk in the Woods stamp set? For the watercolouring, I only used 3 different colours and depending on the amount of water I used with the ink, it gave me different shades.

Supplies:

Measurements: 

  • Balmy Blue Card Base: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock : 4” x 5 ¼”

Instructions:

  1. Cut Balmy Blue cardstock for the base and fold using a Bone Folder for the crease.
  2. Stamp the image of the mushrooms and grass randomly on Crumb Cake cardstock using the matching ink pad.
  3. Colour the white ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack using the Dark Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend and let dry for a minute. (Tip: I coloured both sides of the ribbon).
  4. Adhere the ends of the ribbon to the back of the Crumb Cake layer and add cardstock to the card using Stampin’ Seal+.
  5. Stamp the hedgehog on Watercolor Paper, then cut out using the 4 ½” Stitched Nested Labels Die.
  6. Cut out a Granny Apple Green Stitched Nested Label using the 4 ¾” Die.
  7. Use the Medium-Sized Water Painter to colour the hedgehog, the sky and the grass. (Tip: I used one of my stamping blocks as my palette and pushed some ink on to it from the ink pad. I then squeezed some water on to the block and mixed it a bit with the colour before colouring). Set aside to dry.
  8. Adhere the two labels together, and then add to the card using Stampin’ Seal+.
  9. Stamp the leaves on Granny Apple Green cardstock and cut them out using Paper Snips. Put a little adhesive to one side of the top leaf and adhere them together.
  10. Tie a bow around the stems of the 2 leaves using Linen Thread and add them to the card using Dimensionals.
  11. Stamp the greeting with Memento ink on Whisper White cardstock and cut out using Paper Snips. Add the greeting to the card using Dimensionals.

You’re Just Like Cookies

Measurements:

  • Real Red: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”, scrap for stitched rectangle and “cookies”
  • Whisper White: 4” x 5-1/4” (x2), scrap for sentiment label
  • Crumb Cake: scrap for front sentiment and cookie
  • Early Espresso:  scrap for “cookies”

  • Stamp Pads – Crumb Cake (147116), Early Espresso (147114)

Instructions:

  1. Stamp the outline cookie image randomly on one piece of Whisper White cardstock in Early Espresso.
  2. Fill in the outlined cookies with the solid image stamped in Crumb Cake ink.
  3. Stamp “You’re just like” and an outlined cookie on a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock. Cut the sentiment strip out by hand and cut the cookie using the die.
  4. Cut out two of the word “Cookies”…one in Real Red and one in Early Espresso. Layer them as shown.  Adhere completed word to the Whisper White label using photo for placement.
  5. Add a rhinestone to each end of the label and one to dot the “i”.
  6. Add the sentiment strip above it using Stampin’ Dimensionals and then add the extra cookie at the bottom of the label.
  7. Adhere the completed label on top of the Real Red rectangle using Stampin’ Dimensionals and then adhere the completed piece to the stamped card front.
  8. Adhere the completed front panel to card base.
  9. For the inside of the card, stamp the chocolate chip cookie down in the left, bottom corner. Add the sentiment “You make everything better” in the center of the panel and adhere to the inside of the card.

Aloha Card

  • Misc. – In the Tropics Dies (151495), 2020-2022 In Color ¼” Ribbon – Bumblebee (153622), Linen Thread (104199), Gold Glitter Enamel Dots (152155), Coastal Weave Embossing Folder (151503), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Die-cut machine

Measurements:

  • Soft Suede:             4 ¼” x 11”
  • Daffodil Delight scrap to cut pineapple base
  • Garden Green: scrap to cut pineapple top
  • Bumblebee Ribbon: 12”
  • Linen Thread: 4-5”

Instructions: 

  1. Create your card base with Soft Suede cardstock. Carefully insert the top of the card into the embossing folder and run through the die-cut machine.
  2. Die-cut pineapple top from Garden Green scrap.
  3. Use a sponge to apply Cajun and Pumpkin inks to Daffodil scrap (this is to give a little colour to the pineapple base).
  4. Die-cut using pineapple die. Die-cut “aloha” out from this same piece.
  5. Apply glue to the back of pineapple base, pineapple top and the “aloha” greeting (LESS glue is better) and then adhere to the card base.
  6. Attach 3 Gold Glitter Enamel dots under the “aloha” sentiment.
  7. Criss-cross ribbon onto the top of the card and secure with a small piece of Linen Thread tied into a knot. Separate thread ends to give a “frayed” look.

Dimensions

  • Thick Whisper White: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Real Red: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Designer Paper: 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″

Directions

  1. Stamp the greeting on the Real Red cardstock using Memento Black ink.
  2. Adhere designer paper to the Real Red layer.
  3. Add ribbon to the top of the layer and adhere ends to the back of the cardstock.
  4. Use a smaller piece of ribbon to tie a knot.
  5. Use Paper Snips to cut out the dog from the designer paper. Add dimensionals to the back and add to the card.
