Purple Poinsettia

Hi Stamping Friends! Happy Tuesday! 🙂 Today’s card showcases the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and the matching dies. I paired them with the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper. The designer paper has lots of designs with snowflakes, but, it also has beautiful papers with just watercoloured backgrounds that can be used on any type of card.

The flower is made up of 4 different layers of die-cut flowers. The great thing about the dies is that they include the cutting die and the embossing die together.

Dimensions

  • Balmy Blue: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Highland Heather: 4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Silver Foil: 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ (qty 2)
  • Designer Paper: 2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″

Directions

  1. Place the Highland Heather cardstock in the Subtle Embossing Folder and run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to add texture, then adhere to card.
  2. Adhere the Silver Foil strips to the back of the Designer Paper.
  3. Add ribbon to the top of the Designer Paper and adhere ends to the back. Use a smaller ribbon to create a knot on to the first ribbon.
  4. Adhere layer to the card.
  5. Cut out the 4 layers to the flower with Highland Heather cardstock using the dies. Use a sponge dauber to add Highland Heather ink to each flower layer. Adhere each layer together using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (let dry).
  6. Use dies with Silver Foil Paper to cut out sprigs and middle piece, then adhere them to the flower. Adhere flower to the card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (let dry).
  7. Stamp greeting using Balmy Blue ink on Whisper White cardstock. “Fussy cut” using Paper Snips, then add to the card using dimensionals.

Today is a good day for some sweet Christmas Owls, don’t you think?!

Supplies

  • Stamp Sets: Have a Hoot (153389)
  • Cardstock: Crumb Cake (120953), Poppy Parade (119793), Whisper White (100730)
  • Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (132708)
  • Tools & Accessories: Stampin’ Blends Pool Party (144605), Old Olive (154892), Crumb Cake (154882), Real Red (154899), Bronze& Ivory (157040), Night of Navy (144040), Calypso Coral (154881), Color Lifter (144608)
  • Misc: Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack (152475)

Measurements

  • Crumb Cake:  8-1/2” x 5-1/2”
  • Poppy Parade:  4-1/4” x 2-1/2”
  • Whisper White:  4” x 2-1/4”

Instructions

  1. Score and fold the Crumb Cake card base in half as you would if you were making a normal card.
  2. Using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, stamp the image of the 2 owls on the left side of the Whisper White cardstock, then stamp the image of the 4 little owls to the right matching up the tree branches.
  3. Stamp the greeting “Merry Christmas” at the top right above the little owls on the Whisper White cardstock.
  4. Stamp “from owl of us” in the bottom right of the Crumb Cake card base.
  5. Colour all the owls with both the dark and light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.
  6. Colour the tree branches with the Bronze Stampin’ Blends.
  7. Colour the beaks and feet of the owls with the Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends.
  8. Colour the mistletoe leaves with both Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.
  9. Colour the berries with the Dark Real RedStampin’ Blends.
  10. Colour the hats on the little owls with the Light Night of Navy, Light Old Olive, Light and Dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends.
  11. Use the Color Lifter to touch up any spots of colour that have gone outside the image lines.
  12. Colour the background with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends.
  13. Adhere the Whisper White layer to the Calypso Coral layer.
  14. Tie the Gold Thread into a bow and use a glue dot to adhere to the stem of the mistletoe.
  15. Wrap the ribbon around the center of the front of the card and tie a knot on the left side.
  16. Using Dimensionals, adhere the Calypso Coral layer to the front of the card base.

Very Merry

The great part of these products is how well the designer paper coordinates with everything!

Measurements:

  • Whisper White Thick: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”(card base),
  • Whisper White: 3” square, 1 ¼” x 5/8”
  • Designer Paper: 4” x 5 ¼” AND 3” x 4 ¾” 

Instructions:

  1. Use Real Red ink to stamp the greeting on the small Whisper White panel.
  2. Crop a piece of designer paper with Stitched Shape Square – positioning over a piece of Designer Series Paper to find a section used in the photo.
  3. Crop a small house and a wreath from the Designer Series Paper.
  4. Adhere the DSP to the card front.
  5. Use dimensionals to attach the DSP stitched shape square to the scallop square, and add the wreath to the front of the house with a dimensional.
  6. Make a bow with the Real Red Braided Linen Trim and attach it to the back of the square focal point with a glue dot.
  7. Attach the square focal point to the card front with dimensionals
  8. Attach the word panel to the card front and embellish with a red dot from the All the Trimmings Embellishments.

Northern Lights Technique

Happy October! Who loves fun backgrounds?? If you do, you’ll love trying out the Northern Lights Technique!! Even though I’ve been a demonstrator for over 18 years, this is the first time I’ve tried it! 😉
I’m pretty happy about how they turned out, hope you like them too! 🙂

Directions for Northern Lights Background:

  1. Cut up a Stampin’ Sponge in 6 wedges and use one piece for each colour you use.
  2. Pick up colour from the ink pad using the wide part of the sponge. To apply to the cardstock, you can squeeze it a bit so that you are adding colour to a more specific section. You can either use a swiping motion or a circular motion to add colour.
  3. I started with the yellow colour in a few spots, then added the other colours around it.
  4. You will find it looks better if you overlap the colours a bit so that they blend together.
  5. Sponge Misty Moonlight around the top and the sides in a circular motion.  Add enough ink to create a deep colour that looks like nighttime.
  6. The great part of this technique is that there is no right or wrong way and you can keep adding a bit of colour until you like your background.

Tips for this card:

  1. Create a background as directed above. Swipe the colours on an angle.
  2. Use the Chalk Marker to add dots and a few swipes for stars and shooting stars.
  3. Stamp the girl with Memento ink on scrap Whisper White and cut out using Paper Snips.
  4. Use the Sweet Silhouettes dies to cut out the two dandelions. Use Wink of Stella to add shimmer.
  5. Cut out the frame using 2 sizes of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Add Wink of Stella.
  8. Adhere the background to the card, then adhere then frame on top.
  9. Adhere the stem of the dandelions to the card using Stampin’ Seal and the top of the flower using a dimensional.
  10. Adhere the girl to the card using dimensionals.
  11. Stamp the greeting on Whisper White cardstock using Memento ink, then use the Sweet Silhouettes die to cut out. Add to the card using dimensionals.Product List

Let it snow

The Snowman Season stamp set is a returning favourite! The snowmen are so super cute, don’t you think?

Dimensions

  • Pacific Point: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Pool Party: 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
  • Designer paper: 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″
  • Whisper White: 3 1/4″ x approx. 2″  AND  1 3/8″ x 1 3/4″

 

Directions

  1. Stamp snowflakes around the card using Pacific Point ink.
  2. Adhere the designer paper to the Pool Party cardstock. Adhere both to the card.
  3. Stamp “Let It Snow” on to Whisper White cardstock, then cut end using the Banner Triple Punch. Add to the card using dimensionals.
  4. Take the 3 1/4″ x approx. 2″ Whisper White cardstock and tear the top of it. Stamp the greeting near the bottom of the layer and adhere to the card.
  5. Use Shimmery Crystal Effects to cover the edge of the ripped cardstock. Let dry.
  6. Stamp the snowman on to scrap Whisper White cardstock. Colour using Stampin’ Blends. Punch out using the snowman punch.
  7. Punch out the arms of the snowman from Basic Black cardstock and adhere to the back of the snowman. Add to the card using dimensionals.
  8. Stamp the hat on to Whisper White cardstock, colour with blends and add to the card using a dimensional.
