Spotlight Technique with Picture This Dies

I am in love with the Picture This Dies, there are so many different projects that you can create with them. When I created this card with the circle die, I thought it would be fun to use the rectangle die too to create another Spotlight Technique card.

When I finished colouring the rectangles, I decided to completely cover them with glimmer using the Wink of Stella marker. You can see in the picture below, the top rectangle is after the Wink of Stella and the bottom rectangle is before I applied the glimmer. What do you think?! Which is your favourite?

Dimensions

  • Fresh Freesia: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Smoky Slate: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Shimmery White: 3 3/4″ x 5″

Directions: (Check out a similar card with a photo tutorial here)

  1. Stamp 2 pieces of Shimmery White cardstock using the Stamparatus and Memento Black ink.
  2. Cut out the Stitched Rectangles using the Picture This Die.
  3. Colour the images using Stampin’ Blends Markers.
  4. Add Wink of Stella all over the rectangles.
  5. Adhere the coloured images on top of the background.
  6. Adhere the layer to the Smoky Slate cardstock, then the card.
  7. Stamp “Congratulations” on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. Add to the card using Dimensionals.
  8. Colour a piece of ribbon with the Dark Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blend. Let dry.
  9. Make a small bow with the ribbon and add to the card using a Glue Dot. (Look up “How to make a Fork Bow” to find a video on making a perfectly cute bow)
  10. Add gems.

Spotlight Technique with Daisy Garden

I had a really fun time making this card with the Spotlighting Technique. The Daisy Garden stamp is big and basically fills the entire front of a card. The new Picture This Dies make it super easy to create this card! 🙂

Dimensions

  • Polished Pink: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Granny Apple Green: 3 3/4″ x 5 1/8″ Stitched Rectangle Die
  • Shimmery White Cardstock: 2 3/4″ x 5″

 

Directions

1. Use the Stamparatus to ensure that you have a nicely stamped dark image. The Stamparatus has small grid paper available and I put that on the bottom of the Stamparatus before stamping. Instead of using the magnets, I put Washi Tape where I knew the stamp would not cover.

2. Press the plate down firmly and try to push in all spots.

3. I missed part of the image, so I reinked the stamp and press it down again. 🙂

4. You will need 2 stamped cardstock to make this card.

5. Colour the flowers and leaves that will be in the circles that will be cut out by the die. I kept placing the die on top of the image to get an idea of where to colour. I coloured the whole flower with the Light Polished Pink Blend, then about 3/4″ of the petals with the Dark Polished Pink Blend, then 1/4″ of the petal with the Dark Melon Mambo. I then used the Light Polished Pink Blend to pull the colours out from the middle to the ends. Once I coloured the leaves and flowers, I used the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend to fill all the “white space” on the circles.

6. Cut out the circles with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using the die.

7. You can use the remaining template if you need help with placement.

8. Add the Stitched Circles on top of the cardstock using Dimensionals. (Wait to add the bottom right circle until you have put on the ribbon)

9. Cover the word “Birthday” on the stamp with Washi Tape.

10. Ink the stamp with Polished Pink, then remove the washi tape before stamping on the Shimmery White cardstock.

11. Cut out using the die, then add to the card using a Dimensional.

12. Cut out a Granny Apple Green cardstock using the 3 3/4″ x 5 1/8″ Stitched Rectangle Die.
13. Adhere the Shimmery White cardstock to the Granny Apple Green cardstock.
14. Use the Dark Polished Pink Blend to colour a piece of ribbon. Let dry. Wrap the ribbon around the 2 layers of cardstock, adhere the ends to the back. Use a smaller piece of ribbon to tie a knot around the first ribbon.
15. Add the layers to the card using Stampin’ Seal Adhesive.
16. Add gems

You Are So Mermazing

Measurements:
• Basic White: 8 ½ x 5 1/2” (score and fold at 4 1/4”); 5 x 3 ¾”, ½ x 3”, scrap
• Pool Party: 5 1/8 x 3 7/8”

Instructions:

  1. Swipe a bit of Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Highland Heather markers on a Clear Block. Spritz the block with water.
  2. Place the Whisper White cardstock on top of the clear block to pick up the colour.
  3. After the watercolour has dried – spritz the cardstock with multipurpose liquid glue diluted with water using a water painter – let dry.
  4. When dry – rub gilded leafing over the glue splatter.
  5. Stamp greeting on Whisper White card strip. Trim the edge.
  6. Stamp Mermaid stamp using Memento Black ink onto Whisper White scrap.
  7. Colour with Markers by scribbling markers onto a clear block and picking up the ink colouring using a Blender Pen.
  8. To colour the Mermaid tail – use Wink of Stella clear glitter Pen. Cut out.
  9. Attach layers using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Attach Mermaid with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Flowers of Friendship

 Measurements:

  • Thick Basic White: 5 ½“ x 8 ½“ scored at 4 ¼“ and folded in half for the card front
  • Bermuda Bay: 4 x 5 ¼“
  • Shimmer White: 4 x 2 ¾ “
  • Designer Series Paper: 3½” x 4 ½”

Instructions:
1. Align the Bermuda Bay layer with the Stitched Greenery die and run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine. Adhere to the card front.
2. Adhere the Pattern Party designer series paper to the front of the card as shown.
3. Stamp flower image several times across the Shimmery White piece with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Feel free to go off the edge and not stamp in a perfect line.
4. Add hints of colour with the Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends.
5. Tie white twine around the bottom of the Shimmer White piece and adhere to the designer series paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Hippo Birthday

Dimensions

  • Smoky Slate: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Polished Pink: 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″

Directions

  1. Randomly stamp the “hip-hippo-hooray!” on the card using Smoky Slate ink.
  2. Stamp flowers on the Polished Pink cardstock using its matching ink pad. Adhere it to the card.
  3. Stamp flowers on the layer using the Polished Pink ink pad. Adhere it to the card.
  4. Cut out the Basic White background using the die. Adhere it to the card.
  5. Stamp the Hippo onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp the dark part of the hippo first. To stamp the lighter portion, ink up the stamp then stamp it onto a piece of scrap paper before stamping it on top of the hippo.
  6. Stamp the face using the Memento black ink pad. (Tip: The easiest way to line it up is to line up the cheeks)
  7. Cut out the hippo using the coordinating die.
  8. Stamp the bow with Polished Pink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock then cut out using the matching die. Adhere the bow to the hippo, then add Dimensionals to add the Hippo to the card.
  9. Cut out the swirly line with Basic Black cardstock. Adhere it to the card.
  10. Stamp the balloon using Pacific Point ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock, then cut it out using the coordinating die. Add it to the card using a Dimensional.
  11. Create a bow with the ribbon and add it to the card using a Glue Dot.
