Life is Beautiful Hello

I’m loving all the Christmas stamp sets, but, there are so many others that are great! This card uses the Life is Beautiful stamp set which can be used for so many different occasions.

I watercoloured the background with the NEW Large Water Painter and it was so easy to do. I have a bunch of tips below for you as well! 🙂

Measurements: 

  • Granny Apple Green Card Base: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
  • Mossy Meadow Cardstock: 4” x 5 ¼”
  • Watercolor Paper: 3 ¾” x 5”

Instructions:

  1. Cut Granny Apple Green cardstock for the base and fold using a Bone Folder for the crease.
  2. Use the Large-Sized Water Painter to add strips of colour to the background. (Tip: I used one of my stamping blocks as my palette and pushed some ink on to it from the ink pad. I then squeezed some water on to the block and mixed it a bit with the colour before colouring). Set aside to dry.

  3. Use the Stamparatus to stamp the tree image on the Watercolor Paper using the Memento ink pad. (I stamped it a few times before the image was black enough)
  4. Stamp the treehouse to hang off of one of the tree branches.
  5. Add a piece of ribbon on top of the Watercolor Paper and adhere ends to the back. Take a smaller piece of ribbon to tie a knot around the first ribbon and use Paper Snips to cut ends.
  6. Stamp the greeting on a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and cut out using the 7/8” x 2 ½” Stitched Rectangle Die. Use a Trimmer or Paper Snips to cut off the right-hand side of the rectangle to a size that fits. Add to the card using Dimensionals.
  7. Add Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the tree.

You’re a Friend Like Gnome Other

Ummmm, cute gnomes! What else can I say??? These are absolutely adorable and it’s so much fun making cards with them. (This stamp set is found in the Holiday Catalogue that launches tomorrow!)

Dimensions

  • Real Red: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Crumb Cake: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Whisper White: 2 3/8″ Die

Directions

  1. Stamp the tree trunk on cardstock using Crumb Cake ink. Colour the ornaments using the Real Red Blends markers.
  2. Run the cardstock through a die-cut machine using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Adhere to the card.
  3. Stamp the Gnomes on Shimmery White cardstock using Memento ink. Colour using Stampin’ Blends then cut out using Paper Snips.
  4. Cut out a 2 3/8″ circle using the die from the Stitched Shapes Die.
  5. Adhere the girl-gnome directly on the circle. Adhere white circle to the card using dimensionals. Add dimensionals to the back of the man-gnome and tuck in behind circle.
  6. Stamp greeting on Real Red cardstock using Memento ink. Use a paper trimmer to cut around greeting. Adhere to the card by adding Stampin’ Seal on the right-hand side and dimensionals to the left-hand side.

Announcing a new Online Store

newStarting August 4th, there will be a new look to my Online Store!!! I’m giving you some notice so that you are prepared for the switch and ready to order from the Holiday Catalogue launching on the same day!

The links to products and categories will change so I will do my best to fix them as quickly as I can. For most links, Stampin’ Up! has set it up so that it will redirect to the home page of my Online Store.

What you’ll see in the new store:

  • an all-new design with better navigation of the products
  • you can mark your favourite items for later reference, and then create and share your personalized wish list
  • better ability to search for products
  • new, larger imagery to better showcase our products and allow up-close details
    to be seen
  • it will have inventory status information to show you what items will be retiring
    soon, have low inventory, or are backordered so you can make informed purchasing decisions
  • A new Quick Shop feature that will make it easy to add items to your cart

Things to know: 

  • Your account information and passwords will still work with the new site.
  • Old bookmarks and links will forward you to the new store, but your browser will see it as a new site which means that it will not auto-fill your email and password.
  • If you’ve forgotten your password, you can click the “Forgot Password” link on the new online store’s sign-in page and follow the steps to reset your

Photo Tutorial: Inspired Sunflower Card

Today I’m excited to show you a card that I CASED (copy and share everything) from Jo Blackman, a talented Stampin Up! demonstrator from the UK.
You can see her card on her blog here.

My card is not exactly like hers…she really is amazing at water colouring, but, I still like how mine turned out. 😉 As I made mine, I followed her written directions and created my own photo tutorial! If you haven’t tried water colouring yet, get some Water Painters and Watercolor Paper and give it a try!

Dimensions

  • Misty Moonlight: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Bumblebee: 4″ x 5 1/4″  and  3/4″ x 2 5/8″
  • Watercolor Paper: 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Whisper White: 1″ x 2 1/4″
  • Ribbon: 2 3/4″

Directions

1.

Ink up the sunflower using Versamark, then Soft Suede before stamping on Watercolor Paper.

 

2.

Sprinkle with clear embossing powder and tap off the excess.

3.

Emboss using the Heat Tool until you see the image becoming glossy.

4.

Add Cinnamon Cider ink to a stamping block to use as your palette.

5.

Add a bit of water in the middle of the block and mix a bit at a time with some of the ink with the Water Painter before colouring. Colour the entire middle then use less water with the ink to colour the darker colour.  (I used the medium-sized Painter.)

6.

Colour the entire flower using Bumblebee ink and use a bit of Pumpkin Pie to add highlights.

7.

Use the large Water Painter and add water to the white space on the Watercolor Paper.

8.

Start colouring using Misty Moonlight ink. I found that it looks a bit of a hot mess when it’s wet, but, as it dries the colour starts to blend together and it looks really nice! You can add more colour near the flowers so that the flowers “pop” off the paper.

9.

Use the Banner Triple Punch to create the ends of your cardstocks.

10.

I find the best type of adhesive for a watercolour project is either the Stampin’ Seal+ or the Tear & Tape Adhesive.

11.

Add adhesive to the back of the cardstock to adhere the ribbon.

12.

Adhere all pieces together and add the greeting, Bumblebee piece and ribbon to the card using Dimensionals. Add gems and you are done!
