Fun with Rub-On’s

Posted on February 25, 2008February 27, 2008 by Josee

Rub-on’s are HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!! I’ve been wanting to play with them for a while and just haven’t found time until this weekend.

Here’s a quick step-by-step tutorial

Step 1: Carefully take your rub-on sheets out of the package making sure to keep the backing on. This will keep the rub-on’s from transferring onto other surfaces. TIP: Tape your ends together to keep your backing in place.

Step 2:

Use your Hobby Blade to cut out the image that you need for your project. Make sure you keep the backing on until you are ready to add the rub-on on your project!

Step 3: (Adding to a 3D object) Clean cup with alcohol and let dry. Take backing off and tape rub-on to mug so it doesn’t move until you’re done.

Step 4: Use included stick and rub everywhere until you see the image release from the sheet. Rub in circular motion and make sure you get it everywhere. Slowly and carefully remove the top sheet. If you find some of the rub-on not stuck on…just put your top sheet back down and rub again.

Here’s the finished project:

This image is from the Love & Happiness Rub-Ons from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. Don’t forget you only have until March 17th to order to qualify for this special.

We’ll be using Rub-On’s for one of my Stampers Club Projects in March. Want to join one of my clubs?? They’re really FUN and you get free stuff!!!! Visit my CLUB PAGE for more info.  Josee

Weekend Sketch Challenge-Pun Fun

Posted on February 23, 2008 by Josee

Another fun sketch challenge…I’m really having a great time with these. It’s my Friday "thing to do"! My goal is to use the set that I’m loving the most "that day" to make the challenge card. So, this week….it was Pun Fun! What an absolutely adorable set!!!!

One of the reasons I purchased this set was to make kid’s birthday cards, so, I thought I’d play to make an easy, quick card! I love the bright, happy colours of this card!!!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Pun Fun
Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Rose Red, Cutie Pie Designer Paper
Ink: Stazon Black, So Saffron, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Markers: Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Aquapainter with ink from ink pad lid, Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Slot Punch (for putting ribbon through fold of card), Crystal Effects

The most fun part of this card was to use Crystal Effects to make the bird’s belly 3D. I love how it pops!

Card Details: I started with the patterned paper for this card…I knew I wanted something with fun, vibrant colours so I decided the Cutie Pie Designer Paper was perfect! The colours that match this paper are "Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Rose Red and So Saffron"….knowing this made it easy to decide on the colours for cardstock and colouring. I used Rose Red as the card backing (5.5 x 8.5). I layered a piece of 3 1/2 x 5 1/4 Polka Dot paper. I love how the polka dot works with the strips of the ribbon! I stamped the Bird in Black Stazon and coloured the Bashful Blue and So Saffron with my Aquapainter and ink from the lid of my pad. I then coloured his birthday hat with my Rose Red and Certainly Celery markers. (White CS size: 2 x 2 1/2 Bashful Blue CS 2 1/4 x 2 3/4) I punched the fold of the card using the slot punch (see this post-card 2) and thread my ribbon through. I added a "blob" of Crystal Effects to his belly and let dry for a few hours!

This is the sketch I followed:

 Hope you like it! Josee

Boy Card-Pun Fun

Posted on February 22, 2008 by Josee

Isn’t it so easy to forget to stamp for our boys??? Those masculine cards sometimes just don’t seem as easy to make-don’t you agree? I got the inspiration for this card from Kerrie Snider on Splitcoaststampers. I loved her fun colours and thought I’d make a version of it.

I just got the set Pun Fun a couple of days ago and had to test it out and what a great little saying and image for boys!
Recipe
Stamp Set:
Pun Fun, Loads of Love Accessories, Polka Dot Background
CS: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Markers, 1 1/4 + 1 3/8 Circle Punch, Brads, Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (love this new ribbon…don’t you?)

I had the excited approval from my son this morning when I showed him this card….he said: "WOW, a rocket!!!!" That’s as close to "Great card Mom" as I’ll ever get, at least for now! lol

Have a HAPPY STAMPING DAY! Josee

Sneak Peek: She’s All That

Posted on February 21, 2008February 21, 2008 by Josee

Sorry I’ve been away from blogging for a bit…it’s been a bit of a busy week. I’ve had 2 great Stamping Parties (Thanks to my wonderful hostesses Paula Guzzo and Leona Overduin, who each got a TON of free stuff!!!)  and I hosted a Demonstrator Information evening (We had a great time and I’m lucky to have 5 new demonstrators join my group who each took advantage of the great deals Stampin’ Up! is offering.) You can join to be a demonstrator in Canada for only $208 + you get a FREE STAMP SET!!! What an awesome deal!!! I love Sale-A-Bration!!! It’s such fun and creates so much excitement!  AND then to make my week a little sad…I have a yucky cold. So, all that to say-I’m a bit behind in Blogging…so sorry. Thanks to everyone who comes to visit- it really does make me feel loved!!! I appreciate all of you!

Here is another look at "She’s All That" from the upcoming Occassions Mini.  It is such a great set and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these ladies, there is one for every Occassion!

Card 1

Supplies used:
Stamps: She’s all That

Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Berry Bliss Designer Series Paper
Ink: Whisper White
Accessories: Ribbon Slide, Ticket Corner Punch, Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Sponge Dauber, Mat Pack & Paper Piercer, Pop Up Glue Dots

Card Details: I used Close to Cocoa cardstock for my card base and cut it to 4 1/4 by 11.  I just can’t help but using Berry Bliss Designer Series Paper-it has so many YUMMY patterns.  I chose this pattern because I felt it gave a nice soft look to the card. (Layer Size: 4 by 5 1/4).  I added a ribbon slide (aren’t these adorable?) to a piece of Chocolate Chip Grosgrain and wrapped the ribbon around the back. I used Whisper White Craft Ink (one of my favourites!) for the Bride…doesn’t every bride deserve to be in white?! I stamped the bride on a piece of 2 1/2 by 3 3/4 Chocolate Chip Cardstock. Then I used the ticket corner punch to pop out each corner.  I adhered to a piece of 2 3/4 by 4 inch piece of Close to Cocoa and used the paper piercer to poke holes in the corners.  I inked up a sponge dauber in Whisper White ink and inked the edges of the outline, it gives it a great look and shadow.  I used pop up Pop-Up Glue Dots to mount onto the Berry Bliss layer, so that it gives a 3D effect.

 Card 2

Supplies used:
Stamps: She’s all That

Cardstock: Whisper White, Regal Rose
Ink: Regal Rose
Accessories: Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, Horizontal Slot Punch

Card Details: For this simple card (aren’t those the best types???) I took a piece of 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 Whisper White cardstock to create my base.  I then stamped the "birthday girl" in Regal Rose onto a piece of Whisper White 2 1/4 by 3 1/2.  Then I mounted onto a piece of 2 1/2 by 3 3/4 Regal Rose.  I added dimensionals to the back and adhered slightly off center onto the card base.  Using the horizontal slot punch, I punched on the fold of the card and took a piece of Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon and fed it through the slot so it wraps around the entire front of the card, inside & out.  I then finished off the card with a classic bow.  Isn’t it a cute card?

Here’s a close up of how the ribbon is fed through:

I hope you like them!!! I’m off to lay down now and see if I can get this cold better. Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choooo!!!
