Bidding a Fond Farewell – Less than Two Weeks Until These Sets are Gone for Good

Posted on June 20, 2010June 17, 2010 by Josee

Flower retiring

Less than two weeks to go until the awesome stamp sets on the Retiring List are no longer available! Have you reviewed the list and make sure none of your favourites are leaving? Avoid disappointment and make sure you order any of those sets by June 30th.

This card features two retiring sets – Best Wishes & More (111602), and Stem Sayings (115078). I am always a little bit sad to see sets retire, but that means there's lots of new stamps coming our way in the new 2010/2011 Idea Book and Catalogue! It has some amazing sets in it that I can promise you'll fall in love with!

Speaking of retiring sets – here's some links to older posts that feature retiring sets which I will miss as well:

Technique Time: Emerging Colour Technique Tutorial

Posted on June 19, 2010June 17, 2010 by Josee

A few years ago when Boho Backgrounds was released, it was one of the more popular sets, but as we get new sets, we all tend to forget about old ones in our stash. Over the past week, I've been going through my stamps and putting aside all of the retiring ones, including this one!

This card features Boho Backgrounds along with Medallion in a fun technique called Emerging Colour. Here's a quick tutorial on this technique and how to make this card:

Stampin' Up Supply List

  • Stamps: Medallion (115223), Boho Backgrounds (114940)
  • Ink: Versamark (102283), Melon Mambo Classic (115656), Rich Razzleberry Classic (115658), Regal Rose Classic (105211)
  • Paper: Whisper White Cardstock(106529), Melon Mambo Cardstock (115320)
  • Accessories: Melon Mambo Polkadot Grosgrain (115611),Clear Embossing Powder(109130), Ice Circle Brads(109111), SNAIL (104332), Stampin' Dimensionals (104330)
  • Tools: Heat Tool (100005), Piercing Tool (116631), 1 3/8 Circle Punch (104401), Brayer (102395)

Cardstock Dimensions for this Project

  • Melon Mambo
    • Card Base: 8.5 x 5.5
  • Whisper White
    • Card Mat: 4 x 5.25
    • Scrap for stamped flower

Technique Directions

You will need at least two stamps for this technique, a bold solid image stamp and a smaller one to create the background.

  1. Randomly stamp images on Whisper White card base. For this card, the background is stamped with the small flower image from Boho Backgrounds in Melon Mambo. Completely cover the entire background.
  2. Stamp large background image over top in Versamark. Cover with clear embossing powder and heat until embossing powder is fully melted.
  3. Take your brayer (or a sponge) and a dark colour (for this card Rich Razzleberry) and completely cover your background. Take a Kleenex and wipe any ink off embossed image. The background should now show through the large to create your emerging color. Here's what the finished product should look like:

Finishing Touches

  1. Add Melon Mambo ribbon to stamped panel with SNAIL as shown. Tuck one edge under to get a clean edge.
  2. Stamp large flower image in Regal Rose and punch out with 1 3/8 circle punch. Set purple brad through centre of flower, and then attach to the middle of the Medallion with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Be sure to take a look at the list of retiring stamps and stock up before they are gone! Visit my online store and go to the last chance list section to check out all the sets that are leaving us.

A Little Bit of Magic – Summer Mini Swap

Posted on June 18, 2010June 17, 2010 by Josee

When I first opened up the Summer Mini, I immediately knew that A Little Bit of Magic was going to be at the top of many moms stamping shopping lists! Having two girls myself, this is a perfect set for the kids, and fun for us big girls to play with too. This definitely was a popular set for the INKredible Canadian Divas when we had our swap earlier this Spring! Here's just a few of the ideas these talented ladies came up with:

Motorcycle Father’s Day Card

Posted on June 17, 2010June 17, 2010 by Josee

Foil paper

Father's Day is coming up next weekend, so I thought I'd share a masculine card with you today.  This card features the Bride Foil paper, which is retiring, as well as the Motorcycle stamp from the Summer Mini.

The Bride Specialty Paper is very cool as it's Whisper White foil paper, and with sponges you can turn it any colour you want. This piece was sponged with Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip classic ink, and then topped off with a bit of Log Cabin Smooch Spritz that was also sponged in a circular motion over top.  Having such a versatile product on hand is great because you can get whatever look you want.  The Bride Paper will only be available until June 30th, so order it soon so you don't miss out!

Supplies Used on this Card:

Stamps: Motorcycle (117657)
Ink: Soft Suede Classic (115657), Chocolate Chip Classic (100908)
Paper: Bride Specialty (115669), Chocolate Chip Cardstock (107102), Whisper White Cardstock (100730)
Accessories: Mini Library Clip (109857), Sponges (101610), Stampin Dimensionals (104430), Log Cabin Smooch Spritz (119921)

Elements of Style Butterfly

Posted on June 16, 2010 by Josee

Sorry for the delay in posting, I've been staying at CHEO with my son Jayden. We got there on Sunday and were supposed to get a test for his tummy aches on Monday and it ended up we have had to stay here ever since. It's now Wednesday and he finally had his test around noon. Thankfully everything is ok…and we hopefully get to go home tonight.

Please note, my CARD CLASS scheduled for tonight, will actually be next Wednesday June 23rd. Sorry for the late notice, but I haven't had my computer until today and I still can't send emails.

Butterfly for josee

Here's a fun little card made with two of this year's In Colors (Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry) and Elements of Style (Wood118611/Cling120045) from the Summer Mini.   It uses the Big Shot and a bit of simple stamping, making a card that is great for pretty much any occasion.

Here's how to make this card:

1. Cut Melon Mambo Cardstock to 8.5 x 5.5 and fold in half.

2. Stamp flourish in lower left and upper right hand corner in Melon Mambo.

3. Cut large butterfly using Big Shot out of Kraft (soon to be renamed Crumb Cake), stamp flower image from Elements of Style in Rich Razzleberry.

4. Stamp "just for you" (from Teeny Tiny Wishes) or any other greeting on bottom left in Rich Razzleberry.

5. Add Rich Razzleberry grosgrain  ribbon to card base with SNAIL; cut off at edges.

6. Attach butterfly using Stampin' Dimensionals.

You can order Elements of Style and get started making elegant cards like this one by clicking Shop Now below.
