Eastern Palace Suite Card: Layering Circle Framelits and Circle Punches

Posted on May 3, 2017May 3, 2017 by Josee

I have had a chance to play lately and have this Eastern Palace Suite card to show you today. One thing I can say about this suite-there are so many possiblities to use it! I used a few extras to make this card- like the Layering Circles Framelits and Circle Punches for even more possibilities!

Eastern Palace Suite card, Stampin Up, handmade card idea

One of the things to note with this suite, is that some of the dies in the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies don't cut out the shapes completely. This really gives some different options when using the dies, as you can leave them the way they were meant to cut, or you can use the circle dies and punches to remove the die cut shapes from the cardstock and get a totally different look! Today's card is a perfect example of that!

How To Make This Eastern Palace Suite Card:

Cut and score the Tranquil Tide cardstock for the cardbase.

Add the Gold and Vanilla Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper to the card base with SNAIL Adhesive. Then, add the strip of Tranquil Tide Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper to the card front with SNAIL Adhesive.

To cut the medallion:

Nest the Eastern Medallion Thinlits dies (as shown below) inside one of the Layering Circles Framelits and die cut a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock through the Big Shot. The Magnetic Platform is handy to keep the dies from shifting. Use the Die Brush to help get the pieces out of the dies. Without using the circle die, this medallion shape would just be cut out of the cardstock and remain attached- using the circle die removes the medallion.

Use the same Layering Circle Die to die cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock to layer underneath the medallion. Use the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the medallion to the Very Vanilla circle then add to the card front with SNAIL Adhesive.

Die cut a smaller medallion out of a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock, then use the 1 ¼” Circle Punch to punch it out. Add to the card front with a few dots of glue from the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

Stamp the greeting with Tranquil Tide ink on the Very Vanilla and punch out using a 1” Circle Punch; Add two Stampin’ Dimensionals, plus add a small piece of Tear & Tape Adhesive to the back of the circle to hold the gold tassel (as shown below). Adhere to the card front.

For a final touch, add a small Eastern Gold Vinyl Sticker to the middle of the medallion.

Bella and Friends stamp set: Watercolor Card

Posted on April 28, 2017May 3, 2017 by Josee

Know someone that could use a little pick me up? Today's card is a simple watercolor card using the Bella and Friends stamp set from Stampin' Up's 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue. I also used a few products that are on the retiring products list: the Watermelon Wonder cardstock and striped ribbon, as well as the Tags and Labels Framelits. These products are only available until May 31st or while supplies last!

Bella and Friends, Stampin Up, watercolor card

How To Make This Hand Stamped Watercolor Card:

I started with a base of Watermelon Wonder cardstock, folded and scored.

On a sheet of Watercolor Paper, I stamped the adorable image from the Bella and Friends stamp set with the Archival Basic Black ink and heat set it with the Heat Tool.

How to watercolor with your Stampin' Up inks:

There are two ways to use your inks to watercolor on your cards. I used both on this card.

Watercolor Method 1: Before opening up your ink pad, press the lid of the ink pad into the pad itself. Open up the ink pad and there will be a little mark of ink on the lid which you will drop some water from the Aqua Painter onto to. You will use this as your palette.Watercolor with Stampin Up ink pads

The sky was colored with the Bermuda Bay ink pad and that was allowed to dry (or heat set it if you don't want to wait). The puppy image was then colored using the Early Espresso ink pad.

Watercolor Method 2: Take your Stampin' Write markers and scribble some ink onto a clean acrylic stamping block. Then use the Aqua Painter to add some water and pick up some ink for watercoloring.Watercolor with Stampin' Write markers

I used the Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush Stampin' Write markers to color the bird and the balloon.

Then I used the Delightful Dijon Stampin' Write marker to color in the bird's beak.

A piece of the retiring Watermelon Wonder 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon was then tied to the Watercolor Paper and then adhered to the card front.

The greeting was stamped on Whisper White cardstock and then die cut with the retiring Tags and Labels Framelits. A piece of Early Espresso cardstock was die cut the next size larger to mat underneath the greeting.

Both greeting layers were adhered to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Jar of Love Stamp set-Throw Kindness Around Like Confetti

Posted on April 27, 2017April 25, 2017 by Josee

Today's card is a simple, stamped card using the Jar of Love stamp set from Stampin' Up's 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue. I also used one of my favorite, but RETIRING punches- the Decorative Label punch. I used the Decorative Label punch three ways- can you spot all 3?

Jar of Love stamp set, Stampin Up, Decorative Label punch, stamped card

How To Make This Hand Stamped Card:

I started this card with a simple card base of Tangerine Tango cardstock.

On a layer of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the jar image from the Jar of Love stamp set using Basic Gray ink. Then I add the 'water' in the jar with Soft Sky ink.

Before stamping the stems, I grabbed a piece of scrap paper to use as a mask to cover the water in the jar so I wouldn't see the stems at the bottom of the jar. Then with Pear Pizzazz ink I stamped the leaves and flower stems inside the jar.

The flowers from the Jar of Love stamp set were then stamped with Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango ink.

The Decorative Label punch was used to punch two labels- one was cut in half and used at the corners of the Whisper White layer. The pieces were adhered to the stamped layer and then both layers were adhered to the card front.

To add the greeting:

As shown in the image below, the second punch out was used to mat the greeting, which was stamped with Tangerine Tango ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then punched with the Decoratvie Label punch once- just above the greeting, and then it was put back in the punch with the top stick out and punched again. This left a bit of an odd edge on the sides, which I just trimmed with Paper Snips.

I then added the greeting to the front of the stamped jar image.

Stampin' Up Stamps:

Jar of Love- 141587

Stampin' Up Paper:

Tangerine Tango-111349 , Daffodil Delight- 119683, Whisper White- 100730

Stampin' Up Ink:

Tangerine Tango- 126946, Daffodil Delight- 119667, Soft Sky- 131181, Basic Gray-140932, Pear Pizzazz-131180

Other Stamp Supplies and Tools:

Decorative Label Punch- RETIRING! 120907

I am really going to miss the Decorative Label punch! If you don't have this punch in your tool arsenal, it is one to get as it fits so many different greetings and as you can see, can be used so many different ways!
