Poinsettia with Ornament Punch

Sometimes it’s fun to use tools in different ways! For this card, the ornament punch was used to create the poinsettia flower.

Measurements:

  • Cherry Cobbler CS:  4-1/4” x 11”, scored in half at 5-1/2”; scraps for punching
  • Mossy Meadow CS:  scraps for punching
  • Brightly Gleaming DSP:  4-1/8” x 5-3/8”
  • Very Vanilla CS: 4” x 5-1/4”; scrap for sentiment
  • Crushed Curry CS:  scrap for sentiment mat

Instructions:

  1. Fold the card base along the score line and burnish with a Bone Folder.
  2. Punch 20 ornaments from scraps of Cherry Cobbler CS using the smaller ornament punch, to create the petals
  3. Punch 2 ornaments from a scrap of Mossy Meadow CS using the larger ornament punch, to create the leaves
  4. Score veins on the 2 leaves using the stylus from the Simply Scored tool.
  5. Slightly curl the 20 petals using a Bone Folder.
  6. Begin gluing petals in a circle onto a scrap of Cherry Cobbler CS. (I used 4 circle layers of 5 petals each.)
  7. Glue the two leaves onto the back of the flower.
  8. Apply 7 floral centers onto the middle of the flower.
  9. Glue the flower onto the DSP layer.
  10. Glue the DSP layer onto the front of the card base.
  11. Stamp the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS, and trim it using Paper Snips.
  12. Glue the sentiment onto a scrap of Crushed Curry CS and trim around the sentiment using Paper Snips.
  13. Adhere the sentiment onto the DSP layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  14. Glue the Very Vanilla CS layer onto the inside of the card base.

Together is the perfect place to be

I thought I’d share a non-Christmas Card with you today! Can you believe it’s only 5 more days till Christmas?!

I had a lot of fun making this card. I played around with the Pigment Sprinkles and one thing I found was that a little goes a long way! 🙂

Here’s a bit of info on the Pigment Sprinkles:

Measurements:

  • Bermuda Bay CS: 5.5″ x 8.5″
  • Daffodil Delight CS: 4″ x 5.25″
  • Basic Black CS: 3 15/16″ x 2 5/8″
  • Watercolor Paper: 2 9/16″ x  3 3/16″
  • Whisper White: 1 3/16″ x 1 11/16″

Directions:

  1. Fold the Bermuda Bay card base in half.
  2. Use a die-cutting machine with the Subtles embossing folder to create texture on the Daffodil Delight layer. Adhere to card.
  3. Die-cut the Basic Black cardstock using the 3 15/16″ x 2 5/8″ Stitched Rectangle die. Adhere to card.
  4. Take a scrap of Watercolor Paper larger than the die size. Sprinkle a very small amount of Pigment Sprinkles (Bermuda Bay & Daffodil Delight) on Watercolor Paper, then spray with a Stampin’ Spritzer.
  5. Let dry or use Heat Tool to dry quicker.
  6. Ink the image stamp with Versamark, then stamp on onto Watercolour paper.
  7. Sprinkle the Shimmer Black embossing powder on top, then use heat tool to set. TIP: I found that I had lots of spots that missed embossing power so I use and old Blender Pen to pick up Versamark ink from the pad, then colour the empty spots. Sprinkle more Embossing Power and heat set again!)
  8. Cut out layer with the 2 9/16″ x  3 3/16″ Stitched Rectangle Die, then adhere to card.
  9. Use a scrap Whisper White cardstock to stamp the greeting using the Bermuda Bay ink pad. Adhere to card using Dimensionals.

From Our House To Yours

Measurements:

  • Whisper White: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2” for card base & ¼ sheet for die-cutting
  • Wrapped in Plaid Designer Paper: 2” x 5-1/2”

Instructions:

  1. Fold the Whisper White base card in half.
  2. Layer the 2” piece of Designer Paper onto the left side of the card base using Snail.
  3. Using your die cut machine, cut 3 of the 2nd smallest squares and 1 of the smallest stitched rectangle.
  4. Stamp the house, roof and door using the 3 different ink colours; alternate for each of the 3 squares.
  5. Using the Night of Navy ink pad, stamp the sentiment on the stitched rectangle.
  6. Adhere the 3 squares onto the right side of the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  7. Adhere the sentiment on the left side of the card using Dimensionals.
  8. Tie the Curly Ribbon into a bow and adhere to sentiment rectangle using a mini-Dimensional.
  9. Optional: stamp one of the other sentiments inside the card using ink colour of choice.
