It’s Birthday Time

Dimensions

  • Magenta Madness: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″  and  1/4″ x 2 1/8″
  • Designer Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (blue)  and  2″ x 5 3/8″ (stripes)
  • Basic Black Scalloped Circle: 2″ circle die
  • Shimmery White Circle: 1 7/8″ circle die

Directions

  1. Fold the Magenta Madness card in half and score with a Bone Folder. Fold the front of the card again in half and score.
  2. Adhere the 2 Designer Paper layers to the card.
  3. Stamp the Otter on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, then cut it out using the Circle Die. Cut out a black piece of cardstock using the Scallop Circle Die.
  4. Colour around the Otter using the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.
  5. Colour the Otter using the Smoky Slate Blends. Use the Light Basic Black and the Dark Smoky Slate Blend on the nose.
  6. Stamp the hat on a piece of Shimmery White, then colour it using the Dark Magenta Madness Blend and the Light Misty Moonlight Blend. Cut out using Paper Snips and adhere it on top of the Otters head.
  7. Stamp the greeting on a piece of Magenta Madness cardstock.
  8. Use a Paper Piercer (or really small hole punch) to make a hole on each hand and on each end of the greeting tag.
  9. Push an end of the black Baker’s Twine through the back of the greeting layer and tie it in a knot. Loop the Twine through the hand, up through the other side and through the greeting layer, then tie it in a knot.
  10. Adhere the Shimmery White circle to the Basic Black circle. Adhere the circle layers to the card by adding adhesive to the bottom part only.
  11. Add the Black Dots.

Floating Card

I’m not really sure what to call this so I thought maybe just say it’s a “Floating Card”. I added a clear Window Sheet to the front which kind of makes it look like the front layer is floating! I think the Otters in the Awesome Otters stamp set are so versatile and adorable!! You have 5 more days to be able to get this stamp set for free during Sale-A-Bration.

Open the card to adhere the window sheet on the inside with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

Dimensions

  • Thick Whisper White: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″  and  2 3/4″ x 4 1/8″ Stitched Rectangle Die
  • Designer Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Magenta Madness: 2 3/8″ x 3 3/4″ Stitched Rectangle Die
  • Window Sheet: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″

Directions

  1. Cut cardstock 4 1/4″ x 11 and use scoring blade on trimmer to score at 5 1/2″. (The scoring blade is easier to use as in this direction, we are scoring against the grain of the cardstock)
  2. Use the 3 3/4″ x 5 1/8″ Stitched Rectangle Die to cut out the front of the card.
  3. Open the card and place some Fine-Tip Glue around the edges of the cut out. Place the Window Sheet on top of the glue. (Tip: Work fairly quickly with the glue so that it does not dry before adding the window sheet)
  4. Adhere the Designer Paper and the Magenta Madness layers to the inside of the card.
  5. Adhere the Basic White cardstock to the front of the Window Sheet centering it with the Magenta Madness cardstock.
  6. Stamp the Otter on a piece of the white cardstock using Memento black ink. Colour with Stampin’ Blends then cut it out using Paper Snips.
  7. Use the large Scallop Layering Circle Die to cut out a piece of Magenta Madness cardstock. Use a piece to create the skirt.
  8. Use the Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blend to add polka dots to the skirt. Adhere the skirt to the Otter.
  9. Add the Otter to the card using Dimensionals, then use the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to add the Loose Flower Flourishes and the In Color Jewel.
  10. Stamp the greeting on a piece of Pool Party cardstock, then cut it out along with one more cloud using the Cloud Punch.
  11. Use a dauber to add ink to the edges of the clouds.
  12. Adhere the bottom cloud to the card using Stampin’ Seal and the top one using Dimensionals.

Special Moments with Abstract Beauty Designer Paper

I got the idea for these cards from Laura Milligan from Stampin Up! when she posted what she called the Stack, Cut, and Shuffle Technique. These types of cards are also good when you have extra Designer Paper scraps around. For this technique, you stack 4 designer papers together, make 3 cuts than shuffle the pieces around to create 4 easy cards! I used the Abstract Beauty which comes sized as 4″ x 6″.

How to cut the Designer Pieces:

    1. Cut the paper to be 4″ x 5 1/4″.
    2. Cut 2 1/2″ off the width.  (Cut #1)
    3. Take the wider piece and cut at 1 3/4″.  (Cut #2)
    4. Take the thinner piece and cut at 1 1/2″.  (Cut #3)

Directions for cards

    1. Mix around the pieces so that you have 4 different Designer Paper pieces on each card.
    2. Adhere the 4 pieces on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White cardstock. Adhere the layer to the card base.
    3. Stamp the greetings on scrap Basic White cardstock, then cut out using the dies or the punch.
    4. Add ribbons & embellishments, then add the greeting layer with Dimensionals.

      Tip: Cut the Frayed Ribbon in half before using on the card.

      Tip: Colour the ribbon with the Balmy Blue Stampin Blend.

      Tip: Use the Banners Pick A Punch to punch the end of the greeting layer.

      Tip: Colour the ribbon with the Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blend before adding it to the back of the layer.

Artfully Layered Leaves

I didn’t use Designer Paper as much as I could have in the past, but I really love using it now! The colours and designs are just so pretty. It’s so easy to select colours from the designer Paper to pick cardstock to match.

Dimensions

  • Pear Pizzazz: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Designer Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Just Jade: 3 1/8″ x 4 3/8″
  • Basic White: 3″ x 4 1/4″  and  1″ x 2 1/4″

Directions

  1. Adhere the Designer Paper to the Pear Pizzazz card base.
  2. Stamp the leaf in Calypso Coral on the right-hand side of the Basic White cardstock.
  3. Add texture to the Basic White cardstock using the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.
  4. Cut out the leaf from the Designer Paper using Paper Snips. (I cut off all the white border from the leaf.) Adhere it to the white layer.
  5.  Cut out the detailed leaves using their dies. Add glue from the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to the back-side and add the bottom leaves.
  6. Adhere the Basic White layer to the Just Jade cardstock.
  7. Take a piece of ribbon, fold it in half then adhere it with tape to the back of the Just Jade cardstock. Add Dimensionals to the back and place it on the card.
  8. Stamp the greeting on the Basic White cardstock. Add a dimensional on the left-side of the layer and Stampin’ Seal Adhesive to the right-side to add it to the card.

Windmill Birthday

I wanted to use more of the New Horizons Designer Paper to make some cards, so I decided to use the Tulip Fields Bundle.

Dimensions

  • Pear Pizzazz: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Designer Paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″

Directions

  1. Adhere the Designer Paper to the card base.
  2. Use the dies with Basic Black cardstock to cut out the fences and the Windmill. Use Basic White to cut out the blades.
  3. Paint on the glue from the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to the top detailed layer of the Windmill to add shine. Let dry.
  4. Add more glue to the back of the detailed layer and put it on the back layer of the Windmill.
  5. Poke a hole at the top of the Windmill and attach the blades with a black Brad.
  6. Adhere the Windmill to the card. (Tip: I used Tear & Tape Adhesive)
  7. Adhere the fences to the card. (Tip: I used the Fine-Tip Glue pen, but you can also use Adhesive Sheets)
  8. Stamp the greeting on the Basic White cardstock and add it to the card using Dimensionals.
