Founder’s Circle Trip- Day 3

Posted on September 20, 2010September 20, 2010 by Josee

On day 3 of the Founder's Circle Trip, we started bright and early with a half day regional seminar. I saw some fabulous ideas, here are a few samples from the display boards.

I love the butterly sample, they showed us how to use the cling stamps to created a background. You use the big block and place multiple images on it to create your own background stamp. Super cool!  (sorry for the bad photos)

After the regional, we had lunch and then I headed out for some shopping with a bunch of girls! I have to admit, I'm not much of a shopper for myself normally…but, Catherine Pooler made me come…lol. I bought some shoes, some jewelry, cool jeans, 6 tops and a sweater. Not bad for someone who doesn't shop, eh?!

Next was dinner at Five Guys, a burger and fries dinner style restaurant with some amazing gals!

AND the highlight of the night was our 50's style PJ party and business share night. We also do a card swap where we trade cards with 135 top demonstrators of the company! These cards ROCK and I can't wait to use them for inspiration for my upcoming workshops and classes!

At the end of the night, I'm always excited to see what our pillow gift is!
Last night we received a fabulous Simply Adorned necklace  made by Shelli Gardner and her daughters.

Tonight's gift was a pink bowling shirt to wear at our special event on the last day.

See you tomorrow for hightlights from the last day of Founder's!

Founder’s Circle Trip-Day 2

Posted on September 16, 2010 by Josee

Today I hopped on a bus to Stampin' Up's manufacturing facility in Kanab. During the ride, we got to play some games, including bingo. Unfortunetely, I didn't win but my friend Missy Shipman won 3 times and shared one of her prizes with me…she's so sweet! We also had our choice of very HEALTHY snacks (not) to choose from the big basket of goodies!

Once we got to Kanab, the staff were all lined up waiting for us with signs welcoming us and gave us all a high 5. They are such an amazing group and without them we would have no stamps…can you imagine?!

We then went to a park for lunch and pictures. This park is one that Stampin' Up! donated and they even used recycled rubber instead of grass! Our lunch came with this adorable little lunch bag that we got to keep. AND of course I had to pick Creme Brulé for dessert. I dreamed about this dessert for a year since we last had it. hee, hee!

Our fabulous Canadians who earned the trip this year. (Not all of them in the picture, only those who came to Kanab)

So far today has been a blast, it's just about time to get ready to go out for dinner tonight with some of the girls. We are going to the Olive Garden!

See you tomorrow for a Day 3 update!

Don't forget my prize patrol contest…leave me a comment on the blog this month and you will be entered in a draw to win a mystery stamp set. (Canadians only, sorry)

Founder’s Circle Trip-Day 1

Posted on September 16, 2010September 16, 2010 by Josee

This morning we left Las Vegas for St. George Utah on our own special bus! We spent just over 2 hours chatting with friends…the time went so fast and we were there at the hotel.
Here's a picture of Karen Duke, Kay Smith and I. Funny how we were all wearing pink, almost like we did it on purpose…hee, hee.

Stampin' Up! always decorates the hotel to match within a theme. I love the windows decorated with Tote-a-lly Tess! She's so cute!!!

My door say's "The Fabulous Josée"…makes me feels special. I didn't know this, but, because I was the number 1 demo this year, I got a special suite room with a sitting room, a balcony a jet tub in my room, etc.

The hospitality room is decorated like a "Sweet Shop". We got to play a game, eat some chocolate and get our own candy apple. YUM! Stampin' Up! has such an amazing staff, check out their cute outfits!

Tonight we had our special welcome dinner. Ever year, it's such a treat to see how they decorate the room. On the table, each person received an adorable pair of glasses. Of course, we had to get some pictures!

Lastly, I went back to my room to find my first pillow gift…a cute box containing a new stamp set, a new punch, some ink pad and a spool of ribbon!

(I'm not sure if I can show off the stamp set and punch yet…let's just say- they are awesome!)

That's it for tonight, I need to get to bed so I'm ready for some more fun tomorrow!

Being a demonstrator ROCKS, if you have thought about it, believe me…there's no better time then now. You'll get a beautiful tote perfect for organizing your stamping supplies! Click here for more information!

Project of the Week: Every Little Bit Baby Card

Posted on September 14, 2010September 14, 2010 by Josee

Good morning stampers! Right now, I'm sitting at the Minneapolis airport waiting for my flight to Vegas. I'll be spending a night there with some fabulous Stampin' Up! gals doing some shopping, eating and sitting by the pool.

Tomorrow we head back to the airport to meet up the rest of our group and be shuttled to St. George Utah for four days of being pampered by Stampin' Up! during our Founder's Circle Trip. Each year Stampin' Up! rewards the top 10 Canadians (now the top 15) and the top 100 Americans to a very special all-expense trip of pampering! We get gifts at night on our pillows, some stamping projects, free stamps and special suprises! This is my 5th year attending and definitely the most special for me as I earned the #1 spot for Demo of the Year in Canada. I'll be sharing pictures and highlights this week so make sure you come back!

Here's a quick idea for a cute baby card! This card is easy to make in minutes and is just the right touch of cute-ness!

Technique Time: Wax Paper Resist with Embossing Folders

Posted on September 8, 2010September 7, 2010 by Josee

Get out your iron and use it for something fun this week! Using an embossing folder for the Big Shot, your iron and some wax paper, you'll create a one of a kind background for your projects. This card features the new Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (120889) from the Holiday Mini.

Stampin' Up Supply List

  • Stamps: Wicked Cool (W118738/C120600)
  • Ink: Basic Black (101179), Elegant Eggplant (105210), Old Olive (102277)
  • Paper: Elegant Eggplant (105126), Glossy White (102599), Whisper White (100730), Basic Black (121045)
  • Accessories: Black Flourish Designer Jewels (120987), SNAIL (104332), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
  • Tools: Big Shot Machine (113439), Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder(120889), 2 x 1 3/8 XL Oval (119859), Modern Label Punch (119849), Bitty Bat(119279), Stampin' Sponges (101610)
  • Other: Towel, Household Iron, Wax Paper

Cardstock Dimensions for this Project

  • Elegant Eggplant
    • Card Base: 5.5 x 8.5
  • Glossy White
    • Mat: 4 x 5.25
  • Scrap of Whisper White, Basic Black, and Elegant Eggplant for punched shapes

  Technique Directions

  1. Emboss a piece of wax paper using the Big Shot and the Spider Web Embossing Folder.
  2. Sandwich the embossed piece of wax paper between two pieces of Glossy White cardstock. Cover with a thin towel and then iron on a dry setting that is relatively hot like the one for Cotton. Gently iron until the wax transfers from the wax paper to the cardstock. You will end up with two pieces that have wax on them.
  3. Take your brayer and cover the glossy cardstock as desired, the wax part will resist the ink. For this project, the image was brayered with Basic Black and then lightly sponged with Elegant Eggplant and Rich Razzleberry.
  4. The finished panel will look like this:

  Finishing Touches

  1. Fold card base in half.
  2. Attach finished glossy cardstock panel once brayered and sponged to card base using SNAIL.
  3. Using transfer sheet and following directions in the package, place Designer Jewels as shown. For this project, the main flourish image was cut in half and then applied.
  4. Stamp Spooky in Old Olive classic ink on Whisper White and then punch out with Modern Label punch.
  5. Punch out a XL Oval of Elegant Eggplant and then crinkle up. Smooth it out and attach greeting piece using SNAIL.
  6. Cut two separate jewels from Designer Jewel package and add to each end of the greeting. Affix to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  7. Punch bat from Basic Black and attach with Stampin' Dimensionals as shown.

This technique can be easily adapted for any embossing folder to create a distinctive background or accent for your papercrafting projects.
