Corner Garden

Posted on July 9, 2015July 2, 2015 by Josee
Hello!
Glad you stopped by today! I wanted to show you another NEW stamp set from the NEW 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue: Corner Garden. This is one of the newest background stamps you can find on page 129.  I think it's such a pretty stamp- and makes card making so easy!
Corner Garden by StampingJo
This card starts with the NEW Thick Whisper White cardstock. Seriously love this new cardstock! I embossed the card base with the new Brick Wall Textured Embossing Folder. The thick cardstock embosses wonderfully!

Then, I stamped the Corner Garden stamp with the Tuxedo Black ink onto Vellum Cardstock. I dried it with a heat gun to speed things up 🙂 Then, I used Stampin' Write markers to color the back of the stamped side. This allows the colours to show through while keeping the stamped image itself looking crisp. I used Pear Pizzaz, Blushing Bride, Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write markers. I then adhered the Vellum to the embossed card base.

Then, I used the Washi Label punch to cut out some Whisper White for the sentiment layer. The sentiment is from Watercolor Wings. The Crushed Curry layer under the sentiment was a strip I cut out to fit the same size as the punch- then I fed each side of the strip into the punch to punch out just the ends, creating a longer Washi Label. Before adhering the sentiment layers to the vellum, I added some of the NEW Blushing Bride Sequin Trim and Silver Metallic Thread behind the layers, adhering them with some Tear & Tape Adhesive.

To finish off the card, I added some Metal Rimmed Pearls.

Here are the supplies I used on this card:

Thanks for coming by today! I hope you have a wonderful day! Tomorrow I have another card to show you using Corner Garden 🙂

Skating By

Posted on July 8, 2015July 2, 2015 by Josee
Hello!
Welcome back! As promised, today I wanted to show you the 'boy' version of yesterdays card. This stamp set is called Skating By on page 44 of the NEW 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue. These kids are too cute! And, so much fun to color too!
Skating By by StampingJo

I started this card off with some Island Indigo cardstock.  I stamped the boy on Whisper White using Tuxedo Black ink and then colored him using the same technique I showed you here. I used Old Olive, Island Indigo, Chocolate Chip and Tangelo Twist Stampin' Write markers.

I cut the stamped and colored piece with the Circles Collection die- allowing the bottom where the skateboard is to not be cut by leaving it off the edge of the Big Shot cutting pad. I finished off the cut by hand, using Paper Snips to cut around the skateboard. Then I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to add some fun splashes of color around him.

Then I cut out two more circles using Tangelo Twist cardstock. On the smaller circle, I stamped the sentiment in Whisper White ink. Before stamping it though, I curved the photopolymer stamp as I mounted it on the acrylic block. This is one of the advantages to photopolymer stamps- you can manipulate them to curve the way you want on the block for stamping 🙂  Then on this piece, I added more texture with the Gorgeous Grunge stamps.

Before adhering everything to the card base, I punched some little banners using the Banner punch and Old Olive cardstock.

Here are the supplies I used:

Thanks for stopping by today! I will be back tomorrow with another NEW stamp set to show you! Loving this new catalogue!signature

Hey, Girl!

Posted on July 7, 2015July 2, 2015 by Josee
Good day! I hope you are having a good one!

I had some fun coloring in today's card 🙂  This is a super cute stamp set from the NEW Annual Catalogue: Hey, Girl on page 45. It's a two-step stamp set allowing you to add accessories to this cutie girl.
Hey, Girl by StampingJo
I started with a base of Melon Mambo cardstock and then a layer of Smoky Slate. Then, on Whisper White, I kept the scene itself pretty simple by stamping the girl, her dog and a few butterflies from the stamp set in Tuxedo Black. Then I used some Stampin' Write markers, alcohol and an Aqua Painter to color it all in.

Here is a look at how I color:

Stampin Write markers & alcohol coloring techniqueOnce the image is stamped, I pour a little bit of rubbing alcohol into the cap from the bottle (or just use a dish of some sort)- you could add the alcohol right into the Aqua Painter but I prefer not to. Then I scribble the marker colors I want to use onto an acrylic block. (No worries, this will wipe right off with a tissue when I'm done. You can use the alcohol to clean it off if the ink dries on the block.)

Stampin Write markers & alcohol coloring technique

Then I take the Aqua Painter and dip it into the alcohol and then again into the marker- you can add more or less alcohol depending on how concentrated you want the colors to be. The more alcohol, the less intense the color will be. Use a tissue to wipe the Aqua Painter tip between colors and it's really that simple!

All the light pink you see on her dress and hair bow are all Melon Mambo- that shows you how light the colors come out with this coloring technique, which is great because it allows you to shadow and darken the areas you want to. Her hair and the dog's fur were colored with a Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write marker using the same technique. Now for her skin, I had to experiment a little as we don't carry the perfect light skin tone- I ended up mixing a bit of Pink Pirouette and Crumb Cake on the acrylic block and making a very light mix of the colors.  You can experiment with mixing the colors to get a skin tone that works for you.

Now, for the sentiment I used the NEW Washi Label punch to create the layered look. I punched Melon Mambo, Smoky Slate and Whisper White from the same punch- but for the Smoky Slate and Whisper White pieces I put them back into the punch- but only one end of the punch out and punched it again to shorten the punch out to create the multi sizes you see there. Then of course I stamped the sentiment with Melon Mambo onto the Whisper White.

To finish it off, I add some of the NEW Smoky Slate Thick Baker's Twine and adhered all the layers onto the card base.

Here is what I used to create this card:

Tree Builder Punch & Sprinkles of Life

Posted on July 3, 2015July 2, 2015 by Josee

Hello! Happy Friday!

And Happy 'early' Independence Day to my American friends! I hope you have a long weekend to enjoy! 🙂

Here's a quick card to start off your weekend!

Tree Builder Punch & Sprinkles of Life by StampingJo

This card starts with a base of Smoky Slate cardstock. Then I used the Neutrals Designer Series Paper to cut a piece about 4.5"x3.5" and then a piece of Whisper White about 3.25"x3.25".  I wrapped and tied some Silver Baker's Twine to the bottom of the Designer Series Paper before adding it all to the card base.

Then, I punched some clouds using the Tree Builder punch and some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. I adhered one with SNAIL adhesive and one using Stampin' Dimensionals to give it some dimension.

I then stamped the sentiment from Sprinkles of Life with Tuxedo Black ink onto Vellum cardstock. I cut the strip about 1" wide by 4" and then punched the ends using the NEW Banner Triple punch. I used a few glue dots to adhere the vellum piece and then used Rhinestones to add some bling-y rain drops and covered up a few of the glue dots with them too so you can't see them. 🙂

Here are the supplies I used on this card:

Thanks for popping by today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Enjoy!
