Stampin’ Up! Christmas Card Idea #12- Glitter-Y Snow!

I wish you could see this card in real life….it is so pretty and simple. All the snowflakes are covered in glitter and it really does look magical. I hate that the photo doesn’t do it justice. The other thing I LOVE about this card is how inexpensive it is to make! You could make 48 cards for only $1.52 each!!!

Tutorial: Faux Metal

Did you see what it looks like outside? Ok, I know not all of you live nearby BUT ugggghhh….I hate snow! lol We had about 20cm (8 in) of snow last night…yuck!!! It’s the cold and wet kind of snow too!  You should have seen all the last minute parents shopping for boots for kids last night at Walmart…yes, I was one of them! So much for planning ahead.

Here’s a hilarious photo I found online from last year’s record snow falls. I know we’re not quite there yet, but, I heard we are getting alot of snow again this year!!! :(  Ok, I know there are some good parts to winter…but, remind me….what are they again? lol

Alright…time for some stamping fun! This card is the second project we made at Stamp Club last week. We made a card using the Faux Metal Technique.

Fresh Cuts Stamp Set
Cardstock in Basic Gray, Whisper White, Baja Breeze and Brushed Silver
Basic Gray Classic Stamp Pad
Baja Breeze Classic Stamp Pad
Versamark Ink Pad
Scallop Edge Punch
1 inch Circle Punch
Silver Embossing Powder
Heat Tool
White Gel Pen
Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon
Silver Cording (not shown)
Snail Adhesive
Bone Folder
Paper Piercer (not shown)
Mat Pack (not shown)

Step 1: Using the versamark ink pad, apply the ink directly to the brushed silver cardstock. Make sure you press firmly and cover your area well.

Step 2: Pour silver embossing powder directly onto the cardstock. Tap off excess.

Step 3: Heat the embossing powder with the heat tool until the powder turns into a shimmery silver. Once it cools down repeat step 1 & 2 two more times.

Step 4: Ink up your stamp with versamark and set aside. After covering and heating your with your third layer, quickly stamp the versamark inked flower into the hot embossed cardstock. Press down, wiggle and pull up.

Voila! You have yourself a beautiful faux metal layer!

Hope you have a great stamping day!

A math equation for you!

What does an ear infection + a cold (cough and runny nose) + a couple of teeth poking out equal?
A VERY CRANKY BABY and a VERY BEHIND MOMMY!!!!

It has been a very trying week…I was ahead in my blog posts so thankfully my blog kept up by itself but the rest of my life did not!!! I had 2 club meetings, a team meeting and just regular family stuff all week to keep up with and boy was it a challenge! My poor baby girl was so unhappy, thankfully she seems to be in a better mood today. I hope this is the start of a GOOD WEEK!!! Wish me luck!!!

Let’s see what can I share with you other than my grumbling?! How about one of my club projects from last week?
We had a blast using the Watercolor Misting technique that was featured on Andrea Walford’s blog:

Inspired by Nature Stamp Set
Cardstock in Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White
Old Olive Classic Ink Pad
Mist Water Bottle (old Stampin’ Mist Bottle works well)
Stampin’ Write Markers in the following colours
      Chocolate Chip
      Close to Cocoa
      Old Olive
      Always Artichoke
      Summer Sun
      More Mustard
      Pumpkin Pie
      Really Rust

Tomorrow I’ll show you the other project we made using the Faux Metal Technique….I’ll even have a tutorial in there for you to try the technique yourself!!! See you then! I’m off to pick up baby from Preschool…can you believe she’s in preschool at 19 months…she just loves it and I’m so happy that she likes it so much!

Have a great day!
