Photo Tutorial: Inspired Sunflower Card

Posted on July 31, 2020July 31, 2020 by Josee

Today I’m excited to show you a card that I CASED (copy and share everything) from Jo Blackman, a talented Stampin Up! demonstrator from the UK.
You can see her card on her blog here.

My card is not exactly like hers…she really is amazing at water colouring, but, I still like how mine turned out. 😉 As I made mine, I followed her written directions and created my own photo tutorial! If you haven’t tried water colouring yet, get some Water Painters and Watercolor Paper and give it a try!

Dimensions

  • Misty Moonlight: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Bumblebee: 4″ x 5 1/4″  and  3/4″ x 2 5/8″
  • Watercolor Paper: 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Whisper White: 1″ x 2 1/4″
  • Ribbon: 2 3/4″

Directions

1.

Ink up the sunflower using Versamark, then Soft Suede before stamping on Watercolor Paper.

2.

Sprinkle with clear embossing powder and tap off the excess.

3.

Emboss using the Heat Tool until you see the image becoming glossy.

4.

Add Cinnamon Cider ink to a stamping block to use as your palette.

5.

Add a bit of water in the middle of the block and mix a bit at a time with some of the ink with the Water Painter before colouring. Colour the entire middle then use less water with the ink to colour the darker colour.  (I used the medium-sized Painter.)

6.

Colour the entire flower using Bumblebee ink and use a bit of Pumpkin Pie to add highlights.

7.

Use the large Water Painter and add water to the white space on the Watercolor Paper.

8.

Start colouring using Misty Moonlight ink. I found that it looks a bit of a hot mess when it’s wet, but, as it dries the colour starts to blend together and it looks really nice! You can add more colour near the flowers so that the flowers “pop” off the paper.

9.

Use the Banner Triple Punch to create the ends of your cardstocks.

10.

I find the best type of adhesive for a watercolour project is either the Stampin’ Seal+ or the Tear & Tape Adhesive.

11.

Add adhesive to the back of the cardstock to adhere the ribbon.

12.

Adhere all pieces together and add the greeting, Bumblebee piece and ribbon to the card using Dimensionals. Add gems and you are done!

Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions 2017 Sale-A-Bration Catalogue

Posted on January 24, 2017January 23, 2017 by Josee

Good Morning! I am so excited to share today's project with you- the Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions! Since the 2017 Sale-A-Bration Catalogue went live a few weeks ago I have had several requests for the instructions for the Tasty Truck Treat Holder (or Treat Box) shown in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue on page 12. After searching it out a few times online, I could not find anyone who had already put together instructions, so I got to work and came up with my own Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions to share with you!

If you are on Pinterest, make sure you PIN this one for later! Just hover ove the image below to get the Pinterest Save button!

Tasty Truck treat box instructions, Tasty Truck Treat Holder InstructionsThe Tasty Truck Stamp Set is one of the Sale-A-Bration freebies you can choose for FREE! with every $60 you spend in my Stampin Up store. Only until March 31st, 2017!

How To Make the Tasty Truck Treat Holder:

For the outside of the truck:

1. Start by stamping the Tasty Truck onto Whisper White Thick cardstock two times; allow to dry then watercolor with Aqua Painters and ink. I used Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach; I used a Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker to color the wheels; even though you won’t see much of one of the trucks, you will want to color it as you will see it a bit around the edges

2. Once that was dry, Clear Wink of Stella was added to the window frames, lights and accents

3. Cut out both trucks using Paper Snips.

4. Note: one of the trucks will have the stamped image facing inside the truck, you may choose to color behind the stamped image- alternatively if you wish to have a truck image facing out on both sides you could stamp the truck image on a Window Sheet and cut it out in the shape of the truck adhering it to the outside with clear glue. I chose not to do that.

5. If you want a see through window on your truck, you will need to use an Exacto Knife to cut out the windows. For the sake of being able to adhere the tabs on the inside box, I chose not to cut out the front driver window; if you choose to, you will need to trim the tabs further so they do not show through the window (see below- the truck on the left has the front window cut and you can see how little space there was for the side to be adhered)

Note, you shouldn't write your measurements on the cardstock like I did there. lol! Also, make sure you use mat or piece of cardboard on your surface when using the Exacto Knife!

6. Cut a piece of Window sheet about 2.75”x1.5” and adhere to the back to the cut out truck using Tear & Tape Adhesive; then trim the edge of the window sheet along the front of the truck using Paper Snips

For the Inside of the Truck:

1. Cut a strip of Whisper White Thick cardstock 5.5”x4” for a large box – this will give you a box that is 2” along the ‘front’ of the truck and 2.5” along the truck side; this allows for a loosely filled 3”x6” Cellophane Bag; if you would prefer it to be smaller to fit a 2”x8” cellophane bag without having too much extra space follow the instructions for the small box (I used a 2”x8” bag here but I cut the top of the bag a bit-as you can tell there is still room)

2. Using the Scoring Tool, score the box as shown below for the Large or Small Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions:

3. Fold the cardstock at all the score lines and use Paper Snips to cut the intersecting score lines, also trimming the inside corners of the ‘front’ of the truck (so that it does not show on the outside of the truck and allows you to lean the front of the box in to follow the shape of the truck front)

4. Add Tear & Tape Adhesive to the edges as shown below (this is what your final piece will look like!)

5. Trim along the blue lines as shown in the diagrams above if you have cut out a window

6. If you have cut a window, before peeling off the adhesive backing, make sure the tabs you have cut will not be seen through your window

7. Peel the adhesive from the Tear & Tape Adhesive strips and start by adhering the back of the box to the back edge of the truck trying not to leave much space as you don’t want too much sticking out the front of the truck; Adhere the back and bottom side

8. Note: for the ‘front’ of the truck you will be following the slanted edge of the truck shape so the front side will not be straight up; do this for both stamped truck pieces

9. Finally, you are ready to add your treats! Add whatever treats you like to a cellophane bag, add ribbon and a tag. Here I used the new Emerald Envy 1/8” Taffeta Ribbon and the Classic Label Punch to create a tag from Peekaboo Peach cardstock.

You can download the Tasty Truck Treat Holder Instructions to print at home!

Stampin Up Halloween Treat Bag

Halloween Treat Trick or Treat Bag

Posted on September 27, 2016September 26, 2016 by Josee

Good Morning!

Now that Fall is officially here, it's time to dig out the sweaters and light gloves for these cold mornings AND time to start thinking about what you're going to wear for Halloween and what you are going to dish out at the door!

These little Glassine treat bags are super simple to make with a few supplies! Use the Halloween Treat stamp and Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper for a cute Halloween themed bag, or change up the sentiment and Designer Series Papers for a Thanksgiving party favor!

How To Make It:

Stamp “Happy Halloween” from the Halloween Treat stamp set in Basic Black on Whisper White Cardstock. Color with Smoky Slate and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write markers and cut out with Paper Snips.

Cut strips of Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper and Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper and use Paper Snips or Banner Triple Punch to trim the ends into banner tips as shown.

Put Basic Black paper into Glassine Bag (and add whatever treats you want to the bag) and fold the top of the bag over.

Wrap Halloween Night Designer Series Paper around the bag and tie the Silver Ribbon.

Assemble the banner strips using SNAIL Adhesive and use Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the “Happy Halloween” square.

Measurements:

• Whisper White: 3 x 3 • Basic Black: 4 ¼ x 4 ½ (for inside bag) • Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper: 4 ¼ x ¾ • Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper: 4 ¼ x ¾ • Halloween Night Designer Series Paper: 10 x 2 (scored at 2” and 6 ¾”)

Stamps:

Halloween Treat #142249

Paper:

Whisper White #100730, Basic Black #121045, Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper #141648, Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper #142029, Halloween Night Designer Series Paper #142022

Ink:

Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad #140931, Smoky Slate Marker #131261, Pumpkin Pie Marker #131259

Other:

Glassine Gift Bags #141700, Silver 1/8” Ribbon #132137, Paper Snips #103579, Stampin’ Dimensionals #104430, SNAIL Adhesive #104332

I hope you have a stampin' good day!

Jar of Love Gift Package

Posted on August 3, 2016July 28, 2016 by Josee

Hello!

Before I show you today's project, in case you missed it, I wanted to let you know that Stampin' Up not only released the new Thoughtful Branches bundle yesterday, but also a great new stamp set called I Stamped This, now available to order!

I Stamped This, Stampin UpI Stamped This, Stampin Up

Now, onto the fun project I have to show you today! This super cute packaging uses the Jar of Love stamp set and the Everyday Jars Framelits to create a window to show a peek of the package contents!

Jar of Love, Stampin Up

How To Make It:

Start with the Cherry Cobbler cardstock cut to 4” x 11” and scored at 1-1/2”, 5-1/2” and 7-1/4”

With Basic Gray ink, stamp the large jar from Jar of Love onto the left side of the Whisper White card stock (3-1/2” x 3”).

Stamp the word LOVE from Jar of Love in Cherry Cobbler ink to the right side of the jar image and add other words in Basic Gray ink.

Stamp the fish from Jar of Love inside the jar image in Peekaboo Peach (vertically- see hint below).

Lay the scored Cherry Cobbler Cardstock with largest area at the top. Adhere the Whisper White stamped layer (framed closest to the score line~ leaving more room at the top) using Fast Fuse.

Use the “inside jar” framelit from Everyday Jars Framelits to cut through both layers, leaving a window in your jar. HINT: You should be able to cut out the goldfish at the same time if you stamped him vertically!

Fill the 3×6 Cellophane Gusseted bag halfway with fish crackers. Fold top down and use the Handheld Stapler to staple each side.

Insert bag into cardstock pouch, folding 1-1/2” scored edge over the top. Staple the 8" piece of Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon to the top edge of the pouch (through all four layers: ribbon, cardstock, cello bag and cardstock= creating a “matchbook” pouch)

Tuck the front of pouch (with the jar) under the top (stapled) edge to close.

Tie the bow. Add the fish cutout to the front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Stamps:

Jar of Love (141587)

Paper:

Cherry Cobbler (119685); Whisper White (100730)

Ink:

Cherry Cobbler (126966); Peekaboo Peach (141398); Basic Gray (140932)

Other:

Peekaboo Peach Rusched Ribbon (141427); Big Shot (143263); Everyday Jars Framelits (141490); 3×6 Gusseted Cellophane Bags (141704); Handheld Stapler (139083), Simply Scored (122334) ~OR~ Stampin’ Trimmer (126889); Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430); Fast Fuse adhesive (129026); Goldfish crackers

I hope you love today's project as much as I do! Have a wonderful day! Social3_BonusDays_demo_July0716_NA
