Thinking of You Mom

Posted on April 22, 2015April 20, 2015 by Josee

Good Morning!

Today I wanted to show you a Mother's Day card!

StampingJo Mom Card Banner Framelits Happy Heart Emboss folder

I decided to try something a little different with this card. I had this idea to use the Blossom and Pansy Punches to create a bit of a 3D flower- and I wanted to use it to make the letter 'O' in the word MOM, but I didn't have any alphabet dies large enough for it to work. So, I made my own 'M's!

StampingJo Mom card banner framelitsI used the Banner Thinlit dies to create the letters! I used the large one to cut out the main shape, and then the smallest one to complete the M shape. I then did it again with the next size down to create the smaller M. They worked out to be just the right size for the card.

StampingJo layered flower punchNow for the flower, I punched the larger Blossom punch (which is on the retired product list!) and snipped each petal to give the flowers more depth. I inked up the edges of the punched flowers with some ink and then sprayed them with a water filled Stampin' Spritzer. Then I took a bone folder and gave some of the petals some shape. There were 2 Blossom punch flowers and 2 Pansy punch flowers to make the flower. I let them dry and put them all together with some glue dots, then added the Something Borrowed Embellishments.

The sentiment is from the Sheltering Tree stamp set and I stamped it on a strip of Whisper White, that fit perfectly in the smallest Banner Thinlits die- I only put one side of the strip in the die to cut just the end of it.

The ribbon you see is from the Artisan Embellishment kit, which is not orderable right now 🙁

Here are the supplies I used on this card:

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great day today!!

Stampers Dozen Blog Hop: Congratulations!

Good Morning!

Welcome to this month's 'Congratulations!' Blog Hop! You are going to see some wonderful samples of Graduation and Wedding cards during this blog hop!

I have to admit, when I sat down to create a card for this, I ended up doing a few samples before I settled on this one for the Blog Hop, so if you missed seeing them last week, you can see the other wedding card I made here, and the graduation ensemble I made here.

Now, onto today's card!

StampingJo wedding Big News, Spring Flowers

I just love the way this card turned out! I started with a Whisper White card base. Then I added a layer of Whisper White on top of that- first I cut out the center area with the Labels Collection die (which is ON SALE THIS WEEK!!) and put it aside while I embossed the remaining piece with the Spring Flowers Textured Embossing Folder.

I then stamped the sentiment from Big News in Basic Black on the die cut piece and placed it back in the cut out of the embossed piece. Before adhering everything onto the card base I tied some Whisper White Organza ribbon to the embossed layer.  Then added a strip of Pearls Basics Jewels under the sentiment.

To finish off the card, using the Circles Collection dies, I cut two circles out of a Gold Foil sheet to create the rings and adhered them to the front of the card and completed the look with a cluster of Rhinestones Basics Jewels.

Here is a list of the supplies I used to create this project:

Watercolor Embossing

Posted on March 19, 2015March 13, 2015 by Josee

Good Morning!

Thanks for coming by today! I wanted to show you a fun technique for a pretty watercolor look!

First I started with a Strawberry Slush card base. Then, I cut a sheet of Watercolor Paper to fit and got my Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder ready. I used the Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana Classic Stamp Pads and Aqua Painters filled with water to pick up the ink from the ink pad lids.

Tip: Just give the lid a little squeeze before you open up the ink pad and there will be a light spot of ink on the lid- this is what you will use to watercolor with! That way you don't get water directly on your ink pad! Use a paper towel to clean up any excess when you are all done!

I used the Aqua Painter to drop ink colours right on the embossing folder in the recessed side. I tried to fill the flowers with the Strawberry Slush and the leaves with Coastal Cabana but allowed the watery ink to run where it wanted to. Once I was satisfied the embossing folder was full enough of ink- it doesn't have to be perfect- I carefully placed the Watercolor Paper into the embossing folder and then ran it through the Big Shot.

What came out was this wonderful embossed image! I just love the subtle watercolor look! Now, you can let that dry or use a Heat Tool to speed things up. I let it dry while I worked on the sentiment. stamping jo watercolour emboss with Spring Flowers Celebrate Today

I used the Celebrate Today stamp set for the sentiments. I stamped 'Happy' in Strawberry Slush and then the 'Birthday' in Tuxedo Black. Then I lined up the die from the Deco Labels Collection Framelits to match up to the top of the stamped sentiments, ran it through the Big Shot and then cut it in half!  The matted layer behind it is the next size die cut from Coastal Cabana and embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Those were both adhered together then added to the bottom of the Watercolor Paper layer.

Before adhering the Watercolor Paper layer to the card base, I added some ribbon from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack (a Sale-A-Bration freebie!) and once it was all adhered together I added a strip of Pearl Basic Jewels to add a finishing touch!

I hope you have a wonderful day!

I will be back tomorrow with another cute card!

Painted Blooms Mini Treat Bag Thinlit Card

Posted on March 4, 2015March 2, 2015 by Josee

Good Morning!

Thanks for stopping by today! I've got a fun card to share today!

If you don't have the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit Dies yet, I think you are going to want it after you see how versatile it can be! In this post, I showed you the Mini Treat Bag as treat bag but with a little creativity you can make it into a card!

I used the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit to cut this gorgeous paper from the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper. I put the 'bag' together as per the instructions that came with the die. Very easy! Then I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to fit inside the 'treat bag'- leaving room for it to slide in and out of the bag easily.  I die cut a 'tab' for the card insert with the Deco Label Framelits die, folded it and adhered that onto the Whisper White piece and added some ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration freebie: Best Year Ever Accessory Pack.

StampingJo Painted Bloom Mini Treat Bag card

Then I decorated the outside of the 'treat bag'. I just love the Bow Builder punch- it really makes it so easy to add a cute touch to the card! The words 'Just For You' are from the stamp set From the Herd.

I left the inside card blank so I could hand write a message, but you could stamp it with a sentiment or flowers from Painted Petals! This would be great for a gift card too- just use some glue dots to hold the gift card to the inside card!

Here are the supplies I used:

I hope today's card inspires you to look at your dies and punches a little differently! Come back tomorrow for a Project Life spotlight!!
