Tutorial: Glitter Embossing with a twist!

By · Friday, September 5th, 2008

If you’re like me, you love your GLITTER and when you combine in with one of our favourite techniques-embossing; you have a recipe for FUN! Here’s a fun way to add glitter to any of our awesome Stampin’ Up! colours!

This is a fun card I made a couple of months ago for a Wow Swap and I also used it at Stamp Club last month!
Supplies used
Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Garden Whimsy
Cardstock: Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Versamark, Always Artichoke, Apricot Appeal
Accessories: Boho Blossoms Punch, Rhinestone Brads, Heat Tool, Irredescent Ice Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy, Dimesionals

Step 1 Use the embossing buddy to go over the Whisper White
cardstock scrap. (This will take away the static from your paper and
make the powder stick where it’s suppose to be only!)

Step 2 Stamp the image in Versamark Ink. (This becomes your
STICKY ink that the powder will stick to.)

Step 3 Without stamping the image just yet, ink the “versamark inked” image into the Regal Rose Classic Ink.

Step 4 Stamp the image onto the whisper white cardstock and apply Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to image.

Step 5 Using the Heat Tool, heat the embossing powder until the image becomes sparkly. (This may be hard to see, you will start with a cloudy glitter…keep heating until the glitter becomes clear everywhere.)

Here’s a close-up look of the image:

It’s quite stunning in person! Here’s another colour combination I used with this card:

Supplies used
Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Garden Whimsy
Cardstock: Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Regal Rose
Ink: Versamark, Certainly Celery, Regal Rose
Accessories: Boho Blossoms Punch, Rhinestone Brads, Heat Tool, Irredescent Ice Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy, Dimesionals

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Now that school has started, I’ll be starting to post more fun tips and techniques for you!

Have a great weekend! I’ll be at the Baby Boom Show Saturday & Sunday…if you come for a visit, make sure you stop by my booth for a chance to win a $100 Gift Certificate!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great stamping week!   Josee

I think this is great, My daughter is SO into glitter, every card i make she insists that i put SOME glitter on it, i think i have 100 different kinds of glitter i have collected over the years of her growing up. & i think this will satisfy her in alot of ways. I dont mind doing glitter. it add that umph u know? Ty for sharing ur techniques.

Hi,
Absolutely LOVE this creative idea. I love glitter and have not been able to incorporate it into embossing. I can’t find the Irredescent Ice Embossing Powder though. I tried this with Bridal Tinsel Embossing Powder and Holographic Embossing Powder and it doesn’t work at all. If you could link where I could buy that, that would be awesome. Thanks again. Cindy
