Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Canvas Wall Decor

Posted on February 7, 2017February 17, 2017 by Josee

Good Morning!  I am so glad you stopped by today! I have an amazing project to show you which features Stampin' Up's Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, Timeless Textures stamp set and Letters for You stamps and matching Framelits to create this gorgeous canvas wall decor! It was fun to experiment with the different textures and colors on this canvas and I just love those Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits!!

Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, Stampin Up, Home Decor, Wall Canvas, Wall Art

How To Make This Stamped Canvas Wall Art:

Start by choosing a canvas. I found this pack of three 5×7 canvases at my local Dollarama. On each canvas I essentially used the same technique but the placement was different on each canvas.

Add color and texture to your canvas wall decor

I started by laying down some color all over the base of the canvas- I used an Aqua Painter and Pool Party ink to cover the canvas in color. Then, I added some Dapper Denim ink to parts of the canvas, using the Stampin' Spritzer to wet the ink and spread it out more. I used the Heat Tool to dry the ink on the canvas before moving on.

I used the various texture stamps from Timeless Textures to stamp Rich Razzleberry ink on the edges and then used the Stampin' Spritzer again to run the ink a bit. The Heat Tool was used again to dry the wet canvas.

The dotted background stamp from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set was used to add the Crushed Curry ink.

Then, the Timeless Textures grid stamp was stamped in Early Espresso ink and the flourish stamp from Timeless Textures was stamped in Old Olive ink.

The Early Espresso ink pad was run along the canvas edges to create a frame.

Create your main images

While the stamped images dried, the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies were used to cut the dragonflies out of Rich Razzleberry cardstock and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

The words Live, Love, Laugh were stamped using using the Letters to You stamp set and Early Espresso ink and then die cut using the matching Large Letters Framelits Dies. Once the letters were die cut, some texture was added to them using the Timeless Textures stamp set.

Add glitter to your background

Before adhering the die cuts, I wanted to add some glitter to the canvas. I used the round swirl stamp from Timeless Textures to stamp Versamark ink on the background around where the die cuts would be placed. I think sprinkled Heat & Stick Powder on the ink, shaking off the excess and then used the Heat Tool to melt the powder- while the Heat & Stick Powder was still warm, I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds Glitter then heat set that again with the Heat Tool.

Create the wall hanging

The canvases were layed in place and turned over to glue strips of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon to attach them together. A Glue Gun was used to adhere the ribbon to the backs of the canvas. Then pieces of Burlap Ribbon were tied around the strips.

The die cuts were then all glued down with the Fine Tip Glue Pen and allowed to dry. You may need to hold down some of the die cuts so they stick on the canvas.

Once the glue is all dry, you are ready to hang up your new canvas wall decor!

Pretty Pines Hostess or Teacher Gift

Posted on November 24, 2016November 23, 2016 by Josee

Happy Thanksgiving to my U.S friends! Enjoy your day!

onlineex_shareable-4_nov2116_na

I think today's project would be the perfect hostess gift or even a teacher gift for Christmas giving. It uses the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies as the focal point of the project and a candle of your choice. I had this one lying around, and the wax color determined the color scheme for this project.

Pretty Pines Thinlits, Stampin Up, hostess gift, teacher gift decorated candly by StampingJo.com

How To Make It:

The first thing I did was to measure the candle jar's height and circumference around the jar. Then I cut the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper to fit. The glimmer paper is a 12"x12" sheet so in this case, it was a tad short to cover the whole width around so I left the space there and covered it with the rest of the design. Sometimes you just have to work with what you have. wink The Glimmer Paper was adhered to the jar using Tear & Tape Adhesive.

Then I cut the Watermelon Wonder cardstock using the largest Lots of Labels Framelits dies and then ran it through the Big Shot again in the Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I used a few pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive to add the label to the glimmer paper.

Then I wrapped the Watermelon Wonder Striped Ribbon around the jar and the die cut label and tied it with an extra strand of ribbon in the knot.

Then, the pine boughs from the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies were die cut from Always Artichoke cardstock and the pine cones were die cut from a Gold Foil Sheet and Soft Suede cardstock for the solid pieces.

The pine boughs were adhered to the label using Mini Glue Dots and then the pine cones were assembled with Mini Glue Dots then added to the pine boughs using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I left it for now, but you could add a stamped sentiment on a tag hanging from the ribbon or hanging from the top of the jar.

Stamps:

Thanksgiving Decor: Acorny Thanks Silverware Pouch

Posted on September 20, 2016September 19, 2016 by Josee

Good morning!

It's kind of hard to believe that it's already the 20th of September- the first day of Fall is in two more days! I just don't know how it happens but once school starts for the kids, the days really just fly by!

<<Note: The Special Offers expire tomorrow!! Make sure you check them out before they are gone!>>

Having said that, our Thanksgiving weekend is coming soon! October 10th! You know it will be here before you know it! So, here's a great project you can work on to dress up your Thanksgiving table!

This project is made easy using the Stampin' Up Medium Crumb Cake envelopes and the Acorny Thanks stamp set and coordinating Acorn Builder punch! You could even use any Designer Series Paper and color combo you like!

Acorny Thanks, silverware pouch to dress up your Thanksgiving table

How To Make It:

Start with a Medium Crumb Cake envelope and seal the envelope and then trim one end off 1/8” to create a pouch.

On the open end of the envelope, use a 2" circle punch to punch 1/2 of the circle off the front of the envelope.

Wrap the 2-1/4” x 9-1/2”  strip of Moroccan Designer Series Paper around the envelope and secure in the back using SNAIL Adhesive or your favorite adhesive.

Tie the Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon around the envelope pouch (over the Moroccan Designer Series Paper) and tie in a knot on the front.

From the Acorny Thanks stamp set, stamp 4 acorns and acorn tops (one in each color: Dapper Denim, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Delightful Dijon) and punch out using the coordinating Acorn Builder Punch. Mix and match the acorns and tops to create 4 acorns-use SNAIL Adhesive or Glue Dots to put them together. (You will have an extra acorn you can use on a name tag for a place setting or to create more of these pouches for your Thanksgiving table)

Stamp the “Thankful” banner from the Acorny Thanks stamp set and cut it out just using Paper Snips.

Adhere two of the acorns to the front of pouch with SNAIL Adhesive and adhere the third acorn and the Thankful banner with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Create one of these in any color assortment you prefer for each of your dinner guests, insert a napkin and your favorite silverware and place beside your dinner plates.

Tip: Have the kids collect acorns and pine cones from your neighbourhood and place them on a pretty dish or bowl and use them as your Thanksgiving centerpiece!

Stampers Dozen Blog Hop: Home Decor

Posted on March 14, 2015March 15, 2015 by Josee

Good Morning!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Welcome to this month's 'Home Decor' Blog Hop! I hope you enjoy the project I created for this month's blog hop! It took some time, but it was a lot of fun to create!

Build A Bouquet Wreath by StampingJo

If you need a March Break activity, this would really be a great project to get your older kids involved in. If they are old enough to use a glue gun, they can make these flowers!  The more help you can enlist to make the flowers, the faster this project will go wink but this project could be completed in a weekend even without help. I made most of the flowers while I sat and caught up on some t.v. viewing. laugh

I used all the items from the kit to make this wreath. First, I had to create all the flowers! I just followed the instructions provided in the kit to create each flower however I did not attach the leaves as instructed. The instructions indicated gluing the leaves onto the wire stems- but the wire stems were just going to be wound around the wreath and would have ruined the leaves- instead I glued the leaves right under the flowers themselves, and also glued some leaves directly to the wreath after it was completed.

Here is how I made it:

StampingJo Wreath formI used the wire stems included in the kit to create the wreath base. Two wires were connected together to get the length needed, then I used a cylinder shaped jug to help shape it into a circle. StampingJo Wreath- wires bent around wreath form
I wound each flower stem around the wire base to keep them secured onto the wreath.
StampingJo WreathTo help the flowers point the direction I wanted them to, I used pliers to bend the wire so the flowers would point forward. stampingjo wreathI also cut the stems shorter so that there wasn't as much to wind around the wreath.

Wreath- StampingJo back of wreathOnce all the flowers were attached, I used the cotton ribbon that came with the kit to cover up the wire. It doesn't look that pretty, but it's really just to keep it from scratching the wall 🙂 Then I glued some leaves where I felt the wreath needed a few more. Build a Bouquet Wreath, stampin upThen I stamped with the Hello Life stamp set and die cut the center circle using the Circles Collection Framelit. I then added rhinestones from the Rhinestones Basics Jewels as a bling-y border (I used the long rhinestone strips). I then used some Old Olive Trim to hang the die cut from the top of the wreath (you could also just use the twine included with the kit!).

I actually didn't use all of the kit, I just made enough flowers for this project for now 🙂 but now I have leftovers to create something else!

Now to finish off the wreath, I also used some additional Cotton Ribbon to add the bow to the top of the wreath.

Now I have a gorgeous and colourful wreath to decorate my newly redecorated office! Love it!!

Here is a list of the supplies I used to create this project:

In addition to these Stampin' Up supplies, you need a glue gun and wire cutters/pliers. On another note, I did not use the Build a Bouquet Stamp Set as the kit instructed because I don't have it, but for some added dimension to the flowers I would suggest getting the stamp set. It definitely would add a really nice touch to each flower.
