(Written by Tania Kronberg, co-Founder of Stampers Profit Pal)
Cleaning up… and getting ready for next year! (See Parts 1 -5 for all you missed!)
- Printed all four pages (Income, Direct Expenses, Indirect Expenses and Summary) of your Stampers Profit Pal.
- Take all your paper for each month from the file folders, clip them together with a binder clip and file them all in one folder marked Stampin' Up Taxes 2010.
- Save a new copy of Stampers Profit Pal and name it 2011.
- Keep your Jan – Dec folders and this year, file the receipts (income & expenses) in those folders right away! After the 15th of the next month, print out your Stampin' Up Activity summary.

- If you enter your Income & Expenses on a monthly basis in Stampers Profit Pal, you'll never have to play catchup again!
- Make goals- is there a particular area that you spent too much money on? Want to increase your income from a particular source? Use the information you learned about your business through Stampers Profit Pal to make some concrete goals for next year!
AND the best part is.. it's only MARCH!!

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators- Get ready for taxes: Part 5 of 6
(Written by Tania Kronberg, co-founder of Stampers Profit Pal)
Almost done! If you've completed parts 1 – 4 already, you're almost there! Tax time with your stampin up business will be a breeze.
This week we will tackle indirect expenses- things like car and utility costs that may be deductible from your business. If you are a hobby demonstrator, chances are you do no need to track indirect expenses. The amount you would be able to deduct is usually so minimal it's not worth the effort. Indirect expenses do not affect the Summary in Stamper Profit Pal, since the amount deductible is so variable.
Step 1: Open Stampers Profit Pal to the indirect Expenses Tab. Use the categories listed to help you gather the correct receipts for your automobile and utility costs (phones, electricity, gas & heating etc). Make a copy of the relevant ones and file them in your folder per month.
Step 2: Enter the total costs for each per month in Stampers Profit Pal. Depending on your business and the advice of your accountant, you may be able to deduct portions of these indirect expenses.
That's it! You're paperwork is done! If you plan on doing your taxes yourself, or using a product like Turbo Tax, you should be able to step through the program and simply input the information they ask for from your completed Stampers Profit Pal. If you use an accountant, hand him a printed copy of all four pages (Income, Direct Expenses, Indirect Expenses and Summary) and walk away with a smile!
How did this process work for you? Leave me some comments- next week- cleaning up and getting ready for the next year!!

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators- Get ready for taxes: Part 4 of 6
(Written by Tania Kronberg, co-founder of Stampers Profit Pal)
This week – we'll be continuing the steps to organize your finances and get ready for tax time with your stampin up business. Congrats to all of you who completed Part 1, 2 & 3!!
This week we will tackle direct expenses that you have that are NOT through Stampin' Up! Direct expenses are things that you obviously need to run this business- they include things like supplies, room rentals and internet services.
Step 1: Pull out that shoe box of expenses and start organizing by month, put them in your file folders.
Step 2: Within each month, group things together by Operating Expenses (office supplies, internet costs etc), Training (Business coaching, planners you purchased etc) & Travel (Airline, Hotel, Car Rentals etc). Use the category list in Stampers Profit Pal as a checklist to make sure you are remembering all your possible direct expenses. Tip: mouse over the red triangles on many of the categories to see tips about them. Once you have entered your direct expenses into Stampers Profit Pal, staple the receipts together and file them in your file folder. Repeat for each month.

OK Ladies- this is the golden moment- take a look at your summary page in Stampers Profit Pal!! How's your business doing? Are you green or red? Next year, make a plan to decrease the red or increase the green!! Let Stampers Profit Pal help you make those decisions!
Next week- Indirect Expenses.

Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators: Get ready for taxes Part 3 of 6

Written by Tania Kronberg (co-creator of Stampers Profit Pal)
This week – we'll be continuing the steps to organize your finances and get ready for tax time with your stampin up business. Congrats to all of you who completed Part 1 & 2!!
This week we will tackle expenses that you have through Stampin' Up!
Step 1: As a demonstrator, everything you buy from Stampin' Up! can be considered an expense to the business. If you always use your name whenever you buy Stampin' Up products, you can use the customer manager to run a report per month of your spending (Print these and add them to your file folders per month). If you're like me and sometimes just add a few things you'll need manually add up your total and get a number each month (Write down the dates and amounts on a piece of paper and file them per month). I enter the total as if I was a customer paying for the product on the direct expenses tab of 'Stampers Profit Pal in the 'Personal product orders' field. Optionally, I can enter an amount for non commissionable supplies (for catalogues, and other business supplies). Repeat entering this number for each month of the year.

Step 2: If you gave any discounts or products to customers or demonstrators, enter the amount that it was worth into the correct Customer & Demonstrator Incentive fields in Stampers Profit Pal by month. Make sure you write down what, and to whom it was given on a piece of paper and include that in your file folders for each month.
Step 3: If you pay for DBWS, enter the expense in the correct fields per month. Print the receipt from of stampin' up or simply make up your own paper and add that to the file folder for each month.
That's it! Next week we'll tackle your shoebox full of other direct expenses.
