Weekend Sketch Challenge-Pun Fun

February 23rd, 2008 by Josee

Another fun sketch challenge…I’m really having a great time with these. It’s my Friday "thing to do"! My goal is to use the set that I’m loving the most "that day" to make the challenge card. So, this week….it was Pun Fun! What an absolutely adorable set!!!!

One of the reasons I purchased this set was to make kid’s birthday cards, so, I thought I’d play to make an easy, quick card! I love the bright, happy colours of this card!!!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Pun Fun
Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Rose Red, Cutie Pie Designer Paper
Ink: Stazon Black, So Saffron, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Markers: Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Aquapainter with ink from ink pad lid, Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Slot Punch (for putting ribbon through fold of card), Crystal Effects

The most fun part of this card was to use Crystal Effects to make the bird’s belly 3D. I love how it pops!

Card Details: I started with the patterned paper for this card…I knew I wanted something with fun, vibrant colours so I decided the Cutie Pie Designer Paper was perfect! The colours that match this paper are "Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Rose Red and So Saffron"….knowing this made it easy to decide on the colours for cardstock and colouring. I used Rose Red as the card backing (5.5 x 8.5). I layered a piece of 3 1/2 x 5 1/4 Polka Dot paper. I love how the polka dot works with the strips of the ribbon! I stamped the Bird in Black Stazon and coloured the Bashful Blue and So Saffron with my Aquapainter and ink from the lid of my pad. I then coloured his birthday hat with my Rose Red and Certainly Celery markers. (White CS size: 2 x 2 1/2 Bashful Blue CS 2 1/4 x 2 3/4) I punched the fold of the card using the slot punch (see this post-card 2) and thread my ribbon through. I added a "blob" of Crystal Effects to his belly and let dry for a few hours!

This is the sketch I followed:

Beate’s Weekend Challenge-She’s all That

February 16th, 2008 by Josee

For Beate John’s Weekend Challenge, I decided to use "She’s All That" from the upcoming Occassions Mini. I know it’s the same set she used…but, I was working on a sampler for that set anyhow- so, I thought I’d use it too and use the card for the challenge and my sampler!!!

I wasn’t sure if this set was my style…but, guess what?! I LOVE IT!!!!!!! These LADIES are so sweet!!! Such a different style from what Stampin’ Up! usually comes out with. This card took me a bit of time to complete, but, I love how it turned out. I hope you do too!

Supplies used:
Stamps: She’s all That,
Floral Background stamp
Cardstock: Whisper White, Regal Rose, Rose Red
Ink: Rose Red, Regal Rose
Accessories: Markers, Ribbon Slide, Punches: Slit, 1 1/4 circle, 1 3/8 circle, Scallop Circle, Pretties Kit Rhinestone Brads, Whisper White Tafetta Ribbon

Card Details: To ink up the lady, I first inked the stamp on the Regal Rose Ink pad, then used the Rose Red marker to highlight her purse, hair ribbon and beads. I actually mounted the greeting on the side of the wood block so that I can use it on its on. I stamped the Floral Background stamp in Rose Red on the Regal Rose Cardstock layer.  I used dimensionals to mount the Regal Rose layer onto it’s card backing so that it’s popped off the card. (I found the brads too thick to mount the layer flate.) I used a scrap piece of Regal Rose (3 7/8 long) to create the scalloped edging using the slit punch. I then adhered it to the back of the layer. I used my Rose Red marker to add dots to the middle of my scalloped edge and my Scallop Circle. CS sizes: Rose Red card 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, Regal Rose layer 4 1/2 x 4 1/4, White Layer 3 3/4 x 1 3/4, Rose Red Layer 3 7/8 x 2.

This is the sketch that I followed:

I hope you like it! Thanks so much for coming by to visit!!! Josee
