Sharing some Fall Traditions

If you’ve never seen an Ottawa Fall, you’re missing out! It’s definetely such a great time to live in Canada! Though I hate that the cold is coming, the Fall colours are absolutely magical! As a rule, we try to go for a special outing to look at the Fall colours with the kids and this year- we checked out Gatineau Hills for the Fall Rhapsody Festival. There are tons of walking trails, beautiful Look-Outs and our favourite Mackenzie King Estates. We took tons of photo’s of the kids playing in the leaves and posing by the ruins. I thought I’d share a few of our Thankgiving photo’s with you!

Here’s a photo overlooking the water at Mackenzie King Estates near the boat house. Aren’t the colours pretty?!

Here’s me and my darlings posing for Dad:

The next day was TURKEY DAY!!! Yummy! We decided to start a new Tradition of giving this year…my oldest daughter and I made homemade Candy Apples and packaged them, made a cute stamped tag and then delivered the apples to 8 of our neighbours. It was really fun to stop by and catch up with people we hadn’t necessarily seen in a while. My kids would ring the door bell and say: "Happy Thankgiving" and then give them the Candy Apple. Some of the people thought we were selling them. My kids and I called it "reverse-Halloween". Here’s a cute photo of my daughter after we got them all made:

Thanks for reading! Just thought I’d share some of our fun this week! :)

Season of Friendship

This great new set in the Holiday Mini is not only great for card-making, but, looks absolutely lovely as framed art! This card was created by Heather Fosbery and I love how she created the tree to match the Designer Series Paper…just another reason why having matching products makes creating with Stampin’ Up! products so easy!

Scrapbooking-Fall Fun

Don’t you just love the wonderful colours of fall and this page hightlights the colours beautifully! Fall is definetely in the air , my toddler and I went walking the other day and it was so fun seeing her play with the leaves. She couldn’t stop stepping thought the leaves and hearing the CRUNCHING SOUND they made. It’s too bad winter has to come following such a magical season! Can you tell I hate the cold?! I just love the handmade elements to this scrapbook page, don’t you?

Here’s a close-up of the chipboard pieces:

This chipboard piece was made using the BIG SHOT:

with the Leaves #2 die:

Did you know that you can glue designer series paper to scrap chipboard to create your own chipboard elements for your scrapbook layouts? Just another great reason to love the BIG SHOT! (The best glue for this technique is a glue stick as it will adhere all the layer!)

Triangle Explosion Box

I had so much fun today creating this Triangle Explosion Box. It’s actually a project idea that’s been sitting on my display shelf for years originally created in a Wow Swap I was in. The original box was decorated with baby stamps, but, I thought how fun this box would be as a Christmas party favour filled with CHOCOLATE of course! hee, hee

Here’s a few of the steps to create this box!

*Start with a 8 1/2 x 11" Whisper White Cardstock and randomly stamp a pattern.
*I used the stamp set "Snow Burst" #110386 with Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue and Night of Navy Classic ink pads.

Print out the Template and score on each of the lines. (Template not to scale.) I hope it’s easy to follow for you…it’s the first time I make a template.

To score the straight lines, I used the scoring blade on my cutter. To score the "W" and the "M", I used my ruler and Stylus with a soft surface below my paper.

Start folding your score marks as show below. If you’re finding that your box is not folding properly, you may have to slightly trim some of your points. You can use your bone folder to create crisper creases!

Grag some ribbon to tie around & decorate with a matching tag! Voila, your done!
